DWAS was recorded during the development and the casting of the film, so maybe she got the offer at that time. Or.. it was recorded after the iHeartRadio awards, so she offered Doechii to work on the track. They were in negotiations with the OG cast and scriptwriter Aline Brosh McKenna in July 2024, meaning they didn't even have a script yet at the time. They were a long way from knowing they'd be needing a pop star for a scene. Edited 22 hours ago by elijahfan

Then again, that's just my 2 cents. Realistically, I feel like Gaga was sought out closer to the actual film pre-production at the earliest, meaning around Spring 2025. Or most likely during production, since they knew they'd be shooting Milan in Fall and had some time ahead of them to secure a name for the fashion show scene. That is more what I have always thought... I love Devil Wears Prada and I love Gaga but I found it so random that she actually not only made music but made a cameo in the movie haha I didn't believe the rumors because she has been so busy. I kind of think they maybe saw Gaga would be in Europe overall at that timeframe and then reached out asking, since they filmed in Italy and maybe assumed it would be easier to get her to do a cameo that way/at least make some songs. I am DYING to know who came up with the dialogue/questionable storyline for her cameo because it works so well in the movie and with Meryl as Miranda, and I am still flabbergasted as to how she showed up in the movie that way because I feel certain it wasn't in the original script which means they had to write her in and come up with something cool (which they pulled off!)
