innuendo141 59
Proper form - and it was likely just Apple taking the credits straight from Mayhem rather than an intentional act. Benefit of the doubt given, but this one would have left a slightly bad taste in my mouth for something that is otherwise flawless. The cosmic ballet, goes on.

You make them sound like it was a malicious act of them to "hide" their inspiration. Like, what do you assume she or her team would gain from not crediting? Rather than trying to create drama where none is on her end we could just ignore the fact they probably just forgot to hand in papers in time so proper crediting was possible. They do it themselves actually. By crediting these guys after the polemic popped. 1 hour ago, bpmMonkey said: Like, what do you assume she or her team would gain from not crediting? Possibly money if they can avoid to share royalties. Or just looking better by not admitting you borrowed bits from other artists to make your own art but Gaga's cool with admitting her influences so I doubt it could be that here. Probably money. 1 hour ago, bpmMonkey said: Rather than trying to create drama The drama is there since Kavinsky tweet tbh so it's not me creating it. 1 hour ago, bpmMonkey said: where none is on her end I've been saying X times in this thread it's not on her end but rather up to her team since she apparently doesn't follow the legal business part too much. 1 hour ago, bpmMonkey said: we could just ignore the fact they probably just forgot to hand in papers in time so proper crediting was possible. C'mon it's not about a late signature lol. Even before the papers are done you're supposed to ask permission and they didn't bother with it neither since he learned it once it was out. 1 hour ago, bpmMonkey said: Gaga masterfully scheming some random musician, told by some of y'all: Didn't say it was "gaga scheming" lmao. I said it was her team either doing so or just not gaf which is nasty too. Be real, if Gaga was like " they could have ask before to sell something with my music in it " over some project, EVERYONE on ggd would make no excuses and immediately say it's not respectful at best if not fishy. Lucas7 3
First of all, while the two songs might share a similar style, there are no actual similarities in their melodies or drum patterns; I’ve listened to plenty of Synthwave tracks, and it’s not a genre he invented or holds exclusive rights to. If you want to hear what actual copying sounds like, just compare "Cruel Summer" and "Stylish." Secondly, this was a rather undignified public attack—motivated solely by a desire for undeserved credit—yet you fans defend it instead of supporting *her*; perhaps this is precisely why her career has hit a slump. You really ought to support her the way Taylor Swift’s fans support her.

I don't think she deserves these nonsensical copy accusations. It gives me "So Happy I Could Die" vibes—that’s LG's best song.

Maybe she wanted to take the simplest path to avoid hassle. IMO, there is a lack of quantitative standards for copy in the US music market; personally, I find it difficult to classify such stylistic similarity as copy.

But I do agree with part of your second sentiment about it being an undignified public attack that could have been corrected in private. Where is this career slump that you speak of??
