Ziggy 13,502
I’m going to write a more coherent analysis later but on the outfit: - The Collection Eclect Dissect takes inspo from the House of Givenchy French codes and layers them with Scottish tartan, Spanish lace, Kimonos, and Burmese necklaces to create a new image out of a reminiscent one—which fits the theme of mayhem as an album and requiem specifically as a performance piece that seeks to create something new out of the “rubble” of mayhem which is itself a stitching of Gaga’s musical identity to this point—> Ga synthesizes her sounds from past iconography into her own —> synthesizes that to make mayhem —> breaks it and explores its rubble on requiem; McQueen collection is about that as well - bjork’s Homogenic cover from the same time and a collab with McQueen was about the same thing - late 90s had a sort of globalist optimism about cultures being able to celebrate them simultaneously which is what the collection was inspired by in some sense (I don’t think Gaga was making the point though lmfao) Edited 18 hours ago by Ziggy

I think the color is just more traditionally Spaniard so it’s a faster association I know Givenchy is a French house, but I'm low-key seeing no typical Givenchy code or any French influence here, this was entirely McQueen feeling his matador fantasy. Last Grammys, she was wearing McQueen Fall 09. EDIT: oh you mean her third outfit of the evening? This was Haute Couture Spring 99 though, not same collection. You’re right I got overzealous in my researching and wasn’t fact checking as rigorously as I should have hahahaha 29 minutes ago, elijahfan said: I know Givenchy is a French house, but I'm low-key seeing no typical Givenchy code or any French influence here, this was entirely McQueen feeling his matador fantasy. I was speaking to the collection broadly but in this case I see echoes of the Burmese neck collar in the collar of the bolero jacket, for instance. The sleeves of it are also kind of a cross between a Spanish bolero and a kimono imo though they can also read as flamenco. I feel like that’s the point of the collection. Not so mishmash of cultures as kind of prankishly having space to be interpreted through a few different lenses like how you see a kid can look like either parent more depending upon how you look at them Edited 18 hours ago by Ziggy

There's a Dia de los Muertos aspect that could tie in with Requiem's theme, but still, the Spanish vibe feels a little random. I think Shes evoking the planideras, the whole thing with the dancers was innacting this. And flamenco was connected to this as well.

There was also a very obvious Asian influence in the hairstyle of the model wearing this specific look. Then again, I'm not really seeing how this relates to MAYHEM: Requiem. Hadrian 1,831
The Chromatica one it ironically seems more MAYHEM; the MAYHEM one feels like it's blossoming into a new era. and honestly? it's not just a slay—it's powerful.

I think because the collection was about women murdered abroad whose spirits traveled and haunted the earth picking up and making use of different fashions of other cultures in different ways to create new looks which is akin to what Gaga did with mayhem with her *own discography and iconography—taking the sounds of her artistry and synthesizing them into something new. And in requiem specifically, she talked about how they wanted the show to feel like the songs had been taken apart and reassembled in a way to unearth different aspects of the music. So if mayhem did what McQueen did but with her discography, requiem is meant to do that with this era specifically. So kind of exploring the dead components of mayhem basically.
