Lucas 30,544
Y'all need to stop with the Madonna hate based on charts positions she absolutely destroys Gaga in commercial success. Gaga won't be debuting in the hot 100 either when she's 67 Edited May 11 by Lucas 8

Okay but that doesn’t change the fact that the title of this thread is still wrong lol Lady Gaga doesn't owe us anything

Im sure Gaga could still write fantastic ballads, rock songs or even Jazz tracks in case she may not find chartable succes in pop. Dont compare these two. Let’s be real; Gaga has many many cards to play to get a hit at that age.

I would bet probably none of the acts that are popular today will even be trying to make new music when they’re 67. I actually think the only possible exception is Gaga tbh. She has music in her bones and I can see her doing jazz shows for example until she’s old and gray, and I could see a situation where she tries for a pop success too, but the hot 100 will be long gone by then Edited May 11 by monstertoronto 2 1

Because this is the first Madonna single to chart since Bitch I'm Madonna. Medellin, Crave, God Control, I Rise, I Don't Search I Find - none charted on the Hot 100. None of the remixes she released before the Celebration tour charted. The only chart entry was a glorified feature. So yeah it is her first chart entry in 11 years. Jazz barely charts now while the generation who liked it most are still here 😅 By the time we're all 60 Jazz fans will be as rare as dinosaurs. She has actual artistic essence, insane versatility, and the ability to master different genres without looking forced. That’s why every generation connects with her And before y’all start: Madonna is a legend, nobody’s denying that. But using her legacy to talk down on Gaga on a Gaga forum is very weird behavior, babe 1

It's even weirder to think that "X is doing better than Gaga" is an attack on Gaga and that Gaga criticism is totally prohibited, it's straight up MAGA behaviour. Good luck!

You literally started by framing it as “Madonna destroys Gaga” in terms of chart success, and then acted surprised when that tone was read as competitive or dismissive. It’s completely fine to discuss chart history or compare commercial trajectories. The issue is the inconsistency in framing: on one hand asking for respect toward Madonna’s legacy, and on the other using language that positions Gaga as inherently lesser in order to elevate that legacy. Criticism of Gaga isn’t the point here; reducing her work to a hierarchy to assert superiority is. If the argument is about Madonna’s chart journey, it doesn’t need to be built on diminishing Gaga to make it valid. So yes, it makes sense. It just needs consistency: you can respect Madonna’s achievements without turning Gaga into a rhetorical contrast piece
