Which DWP2 Song Should Gaga Submit for Awards Contention Next Year?

So, we’ve got three original songs from The Devil Wears Prada 2 soundtrack: Runway, Shape of a Woman, and Glamorous Life.

Unfortunately, Glamorous Life is out of the awards conversation as it isn’t actually used in the film and only appears as the second song during the credits. That leaves Runway and Shape of a Woman as the real contenders.

Personally, I’m rooting for Shape of a Woman. Its placement at the film’s climax gives it a strong emotional impact that, for me, outshines Runway. And if I’m being honest, I’d much rather see Gaga perform Shape of a Woman at the Oscars. That archive custom Versace look in the film from 2012 was such a scene stealer. One of her best looks ever imo. 

That said, looking at it more realistically, Runway probably has the advantage. As the lead single from the soundtrack, it has more visibility and is likely the one that will be pushed during awards season.

What song do you think Gaga should submit?

If it wins, it would be the first ballroom song to win an Oscar’s, it would be an historial moment for the POC LGBTQ+ community.

Gaga is an awards season darling. She's already been nominated three times in the Original Song category and she'll definitely be in the conversation come December and next year. As to whether she'll get nominated, that's yet to be determined.

Runway should be submitted to Best Pop Dance Recording at the Grammys whereas Shape of a Woman for Best Song Written for Visual Media since its used more prominately in the film and actually has a narrative purpose. She can also submit The Dead Dance for Wednesday if she wants two horses in the race.

For the Oscars... honestly neither. The arent the correct profile for the award. If they want to throw spaghetti at the wall and see what sticks, then Shape of a Woman for the same reason above. If DWP2 smashes in the box office (which could happen), then I can see it being nominated only for the sole fact that it fits the "song from a big blockbuster film that could be performed at the ceremony and bring in ratings" profile. But winning is a huge ass long shot.

Sorry, wasn't directed at you specifically & not trying to be negative lol, just think its silly to talk about these as "awards-worthy" songs.

Even if they do end up being nominated, that doesn't mean they should be.

It will be because there was little competition or, like you say, because she's an "awards season darling"

appearantly it was in the movie, but they pushed the song after credits, as keeping 3 gaga songs within 15 minutes frame was a bit too much

I fear Shape od a Woman may not be eligible if it pre-existed the film and was recorded for Mayhem. The Oscars often disqualify songs because of this.

So likely Runway is the safer bet.

She's probably going to submit Runway to Best Pop Duo/Group Performance (same category that she has won for Shallow, Rain On Me, Die With A Smile). I'm also curious to see if she's going to submit The Dead Dance along with Shape of a Woman to Pop Solo / Written for Visual Media.

I think it will depend mainly on whether the film itself is in the awards conversation.
