chronic 314 Posted yesterday at 02:02 PM Share Posted yesterday at 02:02 PM (edited) I really don’t understand why we’re having these tired discussions about these songs. They’re just cute soundtrack songs. It’s not like ASIB. She’s not the lead in the movie. They aren’t bad songs, but I’m not sure why people have such strong undying opinions about them (good or bad). We’re extremely lucky that we even got a MV for Runway. The reactions are getting a little out of hand. Threads about your opinions on other users’ opinions? edit: sorry. I’m just very bitter about the wait for Requiem. Edited yesterday at 02:11 PM by chronic

LGAte 670
I will say this. A lot of people are experiencing a really good era with Mayhem because it’s the first time we got a truly fleshed out pop era in over 15 years. I think this makes some people gas Mayhem up to be amazing. If I am being honest I think Stan culture and algorithms worked in her favor this era and that’s great but musically Mayhem is just very ordinary to me. I will go back to Disease and Abracadabra and LoveDrug….but honestly it’s really her canonizing herself and kind of intentionally re-impacting her unique voice into the Gen Z zeitgeist. I came to Gaga for boundaries being pushed and musically Mayhem does not do that. so truth be told…no….Mayhem is nothing like how TF-TFM-BTW-ARTPOP felt. there was an excitement about what she would innovate…not just what she would do. People get excited all the time about what Taylor Swift and Beyonce are going to do next but that’s just another evolution. They aren’t necessarily musically or artistically groundbreaking. Gaga’s first four albums were trying for that and pretty well done for the most part. I still don’t think she has truly delivered a great pop album after that, that, if it were her debut and no had ever heard of her, would do well. I remember she even said that early in her career. When it comes to making her next album she took all the awards off the wall and pretended like it was her first album again. after Joanne I didn’t really feel that anymore. by the way…this is no shade to her. I know she is capable of pushing boundaries again. But I just don’t know if she wants to actually be that girl in the industry anymore. Which is strange….it almost feels like she wants someone else to be that person….but like….none of the new artists are actually molding pop in any new way that is truly out of the box the way Gaga did. At least not post-2000.
