They didn't say you had to say nice things.

They questioned the desire in online fan spaces to **** on people enjoying things.

To be a pedant: they technically just said “typing paragraphs and venting” was being a “party pooper,” so no mention of shitting on people enjoying things. But also, I don’t really see a lot of people shitting on people enjoying things rn? I see people disagreeing about which songs they like, but really no dragging people for their preferences etc.

Idk, maybe I’m reading it wrong, but I feel like the vibe on here has been a little touchy as of late and maybe I’m taking it a little personally cause I felt a little piled on for making a bitchy comment about SOAW, but I also feel like I’m seeing more comments scolding “negativity” than genuinely negative commentary.

I mean to be a pedant. They started by saying its fine to have an opinion and share it. So I do think you're being a bit touchy.

And I'll be honest, there's a trend on this site where some types of people love to quote people who enjoy something and get personal about it.

Which is making it harder to have normal and civil discussions about Gaga's music

It has a weird cult of ardent haters primarily because of the disco influences

It’s a minority and it’s just life

Gaga makes tons of different sounds, of course some people will love some songs and others will hate them. It will always be the case because it’s normal

As sad as it is, some Little Monsters are arrogant evil fåggots who are actively some of the worst people to be around. They have serious issues and will never find satisfaction or joy in life and have conditioned themselves into hating everything. :neyde:

Also, I don’t know if anyone noticed, but the thread was created by… @River. Just saying, it’s not meant to be taken that seriously. :brat: (at least I hope 💀)

It's been really touchy since Chromatica to me lol. Every thread about her new music always start and end the same way: Some ppl like it, some hate it, some mentioned how 70% of users just can't enjoy the stuff they don't like, some said it's a forum. Then life keep going, we enjoyed what we like, til thousand years later when she finally become a cosmic diety, we start to fight again because some like her new deity cosmic sound, some don't.

I think we’re kind of talking about two different things atp. My original point was just about how that comment framed criticism beyond a cursory “this is not for me,” “I don’t like this” etc. not about personal beef over differences in taste. But I get where you’re coming from.

I think you're just assuming maliciousness on behalf of that comment tbh.

They explicitly stated they were fine with people saying they don't like something and giving reasons.

They made a distinction between that and the people I talked about who write the lengthy paragraph takedowns and vent and make those threads **** to be in - you're conflating the two.

Didn’t really assume any malice as much as I felt that it was part of a broader trend of commentary I’ve seen over the past couple of days of folks exaggerating the extent of the negativity being expressed about the new music.

You were the one who introduced the personal beef angle (which goes beyond their original commentary about “paragraphs” and “venting”). Again, I get your point and I don’t disagree that those conversations can be a drag, but it doesn’t seem like that’s what they were talking about specifically. It’s also not what I responding to, so not really sure how I could’ve conflated those criticisms when that’s not even how I interpreted their comment to begin with.

LM: Gaga show some love to the gays, release a gay song!!

Gaga: here's Runway ft. Doucheii so you can douche and bop at the same time

LM: but Gaga we don't like the song, it's too gay for the gays

Gaga: :Cautious:

The annoying thing is not that some fans don’t like the song. It’s kinda normal to not like everything an artist does.

What’s annoying is to see them constantly complaining and asking for a pop bop with a campy MV... Being real childlike people... And then, when they get what they asked for, they keep being annoying loudly. They’re stuck in nostalgia.

No one force them to appreciate nor hate it. But it’s their main hobby in life so they flood social networks with their bitterness.

We should help them to find a job or an hobby.

Tbh I think we're all a bit on edge because the world is on fire and our rights are being threatened. I noticed a shift in the way people respond to each other in the past year. Of course we've had our own drama but it does feel like everyone is more tense. I don't think it only has to do with the quality of the music per se. There are two categories of people : people who deal with the stress by being allergic to negativity, and people who deal with it through humor (including scathing satire).  The two seem at especially at odds these days and that line is blurred because we don't really know each other and it's hard to convey tone on a forum.

It definitely can give us hope ! But people need to touch grass and go experience community in the real world to feel it. If your only way of living art is through an internet forum, it can get isolating really fast. I understand that not everybody has access to that however. Not to be kumbaya about it, but I think we should give each other more grace

Yeah I agree, but in term of monoculture we no longer have impactful artist that manage to reunite all of us with powerful messages...

Except maybe the Bad Bunny Superbowl. It went super viral. People were expressing their appreciation toward this tribute to Latin American cultures. "Ice Out" became an inevitable subject. And I noticed that even some people from the right wing were even showing respect to the beauty of his show.

But nowadays, it’s mainly just Left vs Right. Which kills the possibility to change some ppl’s negative biases.

It’s not even just about stans liking a song of an artist. It’s pure entertainment and distractions from real issues at this point.

But yeah, outside of internet, on local scales there are still hope.
