VanishIntoMe 3,941
A really good album tbh. Loneliest Girl and Rhinestoned is among her career best
JolP24601 57
Listened to it while on my drive to work, and I really enjoyed it! I became a fan when Deeper Well came out (and haven't fully dived into her catalog), so I was curious what a more country-focused Kacey album would be like. And it was really fun! Standouts for me are: Dry Spell, Back On The Wagon, Loneliest Girl, Horses and Divorces (featuring Miranda Lambert), and Uncertain, TX (featuring Willie Nelson)
TheARTPOPball 1,323
I really hate to say this but idk. I liked one song (kind of) and thought to myself “if this is the best song the album has to offer then idk” which is not something I really want to find myself thinking mid first listen. I am a huge huge fan of her golden hour album but every album after that has had 1-2 maybe 3 songs I liked. I’ll never not tune in for a new release but I wasn’t expecting much for this and unfortunately I was right.
gumzy3000 7,763
I'm not too into her country leaning tracks so this isn't going to be my favorite album from her, but I still like it overall. Horses and Divorces is wonderful and witty. trolly troll troll
StrawberryBlond 15,383
Well, gotta say, I was really let down here. All her albums were halfway decent for me but Deeper Well just didn't click the same and this one is going the same way. These instrumentals are so bland, the lyrics overly simple, song after song all sounding the same. I think she was heavily inspired after just getting divorced when she wrote Star-Crossed which was her last truly good album but every album she's made since then comes across like she's bored and unsure of what to write about. The only ones I truly liked were Dry Spell, Abilene, Coyote and Mexico Honey (which was the best one). Everything else was nothing to write home about and I'm lost on why it's ranked 82 on MetaCritic. I think she maybe needs some time out to get re-inspired and inject a new flavour into her sound, it's all got too samey.
