I recently rewatched the Confessions Tour and I legit can’t stop thinking about this performance. Amazing arrangement, phenomenal staging, powerful message. Definitely one of my all-time faves from her.

Drop your favorites below!

came to this thread to post exactly this. goosebumps every time I see it - especially the closing Bible quote. I literally cry every. damn. time. No pop star I've been exposed to managed to make such a powerful statement, besides Gaga's BTW speech on TMB HBO Special (which is only comparable to Madge's because it is very relevant to my generation, and I do believe it saved some lives).

Is there some reason my LG7 isn't here? Has she died or something?

The Girl Gone Wild opening doesn't get talked about enough:

Bad Girl on SNL in 1993 is a more rare performance, but it is a really good one. She sounds awesome here vocally, and that BASS during the chorus is impeccable:

This song, the entire section & the tour demonstrate the one thing I wish we got more of from Gaga.
Re-invention of classics in tour setlists.
It's the only critique I ever have of Gaga live tours, she doesn't play around with the older hits she puts in the setlist enough. LoveGame is like the only hit she religiously performs every tour but also the only hit that she regularly has fun with the tour edit for.

This and this! I wish Gaga would play around more with her older songs we've heard a million times. If I hear the same arrangement of PF or JD one more time :huntyga:

I know PF/JD are massive hits.
But it's getting to the point she needs to fully embrace medleys & mashups (which TAOPC shows some progress towards).
She has a new creative zeal post Chromatica though, and I think she may finally start throwing off the shackles of "I must perform this because it's big".

This completely reignited a whole realm of Gaga’s live performance potential that I didn’t really notice had waned into latency until you mentioned it here … but ough … yes—multisensory montage the live scene please. To your points though, Gaga started incorporating  “[through my many, etc.] iterations” in her crowd causerie during the Mayhem Ball, which echoes a certain potential awareness or allusion to the reiteration … I think in her own way, we’re seeing live reinterpretations, but moreso internal or reworking songs within their own world (Disease, Antidote, Poison; Abracadabra, TAOPC, Grammys; Requiem; honestly, even the noted emphasis on melodic vocal shifts during the Mayhem Ball), but moving forward I could see her focusing on developing that more outwardly (all things being equal; good, bad, indifferent; “CollabGa,” beyond the cynicism underscores her openness to music integration (mashups are effectually song collaborations, and it appears she’s leaning all the way into her producer / songwriter satchel moving forward)) … but all of that rambling is to say … I could see your notes coming to fruition in near future projects

Agreed. I was so excited that she embraced rearrangements and mashups on the MBT tour. If you had told me, prior to the show debuting, that she did a medley of Bloody Mary/Abracadabra/Judas/Aura/Scheisse, I would’ve thought it was fan fiction, but instead, it became what I think is the greatest opener she’s done for any show of her career thus far.

Ough, the Velvet and Vice opener is beyond beyond, especially within that scope of perception. But, it’s kind of wilde to think that, if you had told me, following the Monster Ball, that in ten/fifteen years, the major caveat in Gaga’s live tours would be rearrangements and mashups, I would’ve thought it was fan fiction, but instead *gestures broadly at immediate commentary* … still, there’s solace in knowing this vision and viable blueprint resides somewhere at the source

Spoiler

There was the Monster Ball megamix that seamlessly transitioned this into maybe … Bad Romance, with LoveGame ad libs (??) … but it could actually have been neither of those songs … I just remember this interlude with the Mobb Deep sample felt like a natural fit within Gaga’s standard catalogue, even/especially back then
