Looking at it back now, I'm honestly not mad at Disease being the lead single. She didn't go for a radio friendly safe song, and us stans were asking for a dark hard hitting song for a while, and she gave exactly that to us. Not everyone loved the song but it's still exactly what most people wanted.

Now when it comes to Interscope, I agree that they ****ing suck at promoting properly, although some efforts were made for Mayhem. I feel though that Gaga has a lot of creative freedom with Interscope, that she might not have in another record label.

Not promoting GOE, VIY & HBDUWM, Zombieboy in their peaks was an absolute crime, but idk maybe gaga just said to them “i’m good with abra and disease, dwas is also thriving so yeah whatever”

As much as I think we all want her to have huge smash singles, ultimately she’s an album artist and a performance artist. Her legacy and impact matters more and no one can deny that Mayhem was a monstrous, global success.

Also I think if Gaga left Interscope it would only be to go independent/part of a label created by her and Michael, and everyone would freak out 1000% more at her decision making then

I know some fans dislike it for whatever reason but if Blade Of Grass made it on the album, there was absolutely no reason to push DWAS to the side.

I think some fans dislike it (hi, it's me) simply because it was slapped on the album at the end. It was so clearly a charts driven decision and the fact that something like 60% of Mayhem's streams are just DWAS alone further confirms that.

Miss "music, not the bling" throwing a Bruno Mars reject onto her album just 'cause it streamed well  

But the song itself is inoffensive. Maybe not my taste 'cause I don't like cheesy, cliche love songs, but it's fine and sonically it does fit as a closer for the album.

Interscope has always given me bad vibes, just look at madonna's last few albums, they've really fumbled the bag with them. Now that Madonna's back at Warner, she has a lot more control as an artist and they're really going hard for her comeback.

Gaga picked Disease mate and she obviously was excited for Abra to be the 2nd, she had plans. Just like Stupid Love was the lead and Rain On Me was saved as 2nd because she knew the push it'd have closer to the album release. 

The only thing I agree on this thread is that Vanish Into You deserved to be a single too, I don't know what happened there. That song earned it's spot on that sticker.
