Girl bye. Disease as a lead single was the right choice and it was Gaga’s decision. It’s her best since Bad Romance. 

I do agree that Vanish Into You should’ve been a single too. 

Anything Gaga released these years would’ve done the same numbers, charts are not like they used to be. It’s not like Disease was going to be in a Top 5 when you see Taylor Swift and Morgan Wallen there.

I have a feeling that Gaga has a little more say this far into her INCREDIBLE career. Obviously the label has a say, but I’d be willing to bet that not only does she get to call a majority of the shots at this point, but that she would also be disappointed to see fans post sh*t like this.

i love disease especially when i'm hearing her singing disease's live, but the single promotion are messed and lazy, also i think music video could be directed more better, more exquisite and polished.

abracadabra is truly a masterpiece and perfect choice, i just fvcking love with the song.

VIY was literally slated to be a single. But it failed to significantly take off. I guess that's when they thought it wasn't worth single treatment.

There are many reasons why disease would be picked. 

Last singles were the bruno duet and hold my hand. 

On that order a Song like vanish into you wouldn't have enough contrast. 

Abracadabra right of the Bat would male the Press Say Gaga doing her usual things. Nothing go see here.

While disease Is very distinctive sounding and marks a clear new era. This Is very important for the gp and casual fans that arent keeping tabs. Its more important that the eras very distinctive than launching AN improbable single. You can risk the casual fans not going out of their way to check the new era. This if you don't have a clear hit. 

Besides She wanted probably to give the edgiest Song coming out of the joker era. The more rock leaning Song could, in theory, attract the joker Crowd. It Wasnt a bad plan

She said in an interview that she wanted Disease as a lead herself because of its strong sound and the whole era was perfect. No other single except maybe Vanish Into You* would've done right, promo is different nowadays and there is no reason she should leave Interscope since it's one of the biggest and most profitable labels out there.

They did consider Monster as a single, even comissioned remixes for it. But it's not at all uncommon for plans to change.

Disease was a terrible commercial decision, yes, because in a Taylor Swift/Sabrina Carpenter environment she veered as far as possible away from what was selling.

However Disease has emerged as my 2nd favorite Mayhem track after VIY. It’s loud, aggressive, ugly,  and uncompromising and will age incredibly well mark my words. It’s the farthest Gaga has leaned into abrasive without softening it by throwing in something poppy or cutesy (think choruses of Judas and  Scheibe and the teen film nature of PC chorus) other than maybe Government Hooker. There’s no trace of girly pop and it slaps.

I think Disease will be appreciated 5-10 years from now the public is just not there yet.
