This is Madonna's moment.

In my opinion, her last truly great album was Confessions, and it was the last time she genuinely just did what she wanted to do, without paying attention to what was 'trendy'. It feels like she's doing the same now.

I think she stopped following trends with Madame X. Despite the "trendy" features on it, it's still her weirdest album to date. This new album feels like a continuation of that attitude.

I go back and forth on that. There was definitely some trend-chasing. I mean I don't think it's a coincidence that she decided to release reggaeton and trap songs in 2019, of all years. But there are definitely moments where she really experiments on it, particularly on the non-singles. If Confessions II is what I'm hoping (and thinking) it will be, Madame X might end up feeling more like halfway house between the two sides than all one or all the other.

Isn't nowadays' mainstream pop mediocre in general? It seems like artists forgot that music should convey some emotions. I am not saying everything must be epic like a Celine Dion's ballad but it's getting more and more dull and flavorless...

But from the queen  of the pop or past legendary quuen who used to set standards and now wants make big cameback and make suprise apperance on coachela im expexting something better than another „ david quetta collab (song with sabrina) „ and gran canaria pride sound  ( i feel free)

beside sone gays freaking out on medicore songs for no reason noone cares as it is nothing to care about sbout these 2 songs

I think the trend chasing parts of MX show that Madonna didn't trust herself enough to just commit to her ideas in that era.

But nobody's going to be at their best forever, creatively speaking. And for my taste, Madonna hasn't been a trend setter for over 2 decades. Even when Confessions came out, similar music was already well established in radio, at least in Europe which I remeber myself. No artist is forever able to come up with fresh ideas for their music, especially over 40 years into their career. Plus, if you want to explore and experiment with sounds all the time, you need to have some substantial backup of musicality and I've always viewed Madonna more as an a keen entertainer than a versitale musican.

Me saying that a comment is gross and unnecessary is certainly not me blowing up. There’s plenty of record of me doing that on this site before and that was not one I fear.

Eh, it was definitely at the very least an overreaction. But kudos on the self-awareness, sistren :holdmyhand:
