But I hope the centre-right are paying attention in the US - this is the blueprint for breaking the MAGA stranglehold in the deep red states. Anti-corruption focused messaging, a focus on fixing domestic areas of pain like healthcare & and wealth taxes targeting the beneficiaries of corruption. It is also absolutely a warning side for the wider "MAGA" political movement globally though - they've struggled in Germany to push the AfD beyond it's current plateau (and American support seems to have hurt them), they've lost Orban (and you can definitely question whether ties to Trump hurt him, but Orban had been on the slide for awhile anyway), they've lost in multiple other european states they've tried to throw support behind (Netherlands/Austria/Poland) and the French are showing a remarkable ability to unite against the National Front. And then in the UK and other anglophonic nations like Canada & Australia - we're seeing a Trump effect on the right wing parties now that is negatively effecting their vote. Canada is the clearest one, Australia it's a bit murkey without election data. But in the UK we're seeing the "MAGA" equivalents getting really ****ed over by the Iran war and they are struggling to know how to reposition themselves as a result of it. I think we're seeing the impact of the Ukraine-Russia war on the blatant Russian trojan horses in Europe & the "west". They still have American money, but Russia has pulled back to focus on its own immediate needs and these groups in the west are quickly running out of steam. MAGA/Trump types rose to power with populist messages. What they're learning now is extremism simply isn't popular. Especially when they've been in power for years and have had ample chances to enact the policies they promised. Watching the American right tear itself apart has been so enjoyable. Russian proxies and allied regimes are dropping like flies all around the world and it's spectacular. In the last 5 years, Russia lost Nagorno-Karabah, Syria, Venezuela, and now Hungary. I don’t think the average right winger thinks this way, you’re right, but policy groups like The Heritage Foundation (behind Project 2025 who also helped groom Vance to be VP) explicitly modeled their policy goals for the US based on Orban’s Hungary, so it’s definitely a significant blow/wake up call for them. This fascist has been messing with EU politics for so long, let alone being busy destroying his own country to benefit a few (and Russia). Finally they couldn't mess with voting systems again. Same good news (fascists gone after 10+ years) happened in Poland a couple of years ago. There's light at the end of the tunnel here. I'm not from one of these two countries, but these fu***** need to be punished for their crimes. We need a united, strong EU finally.
