Sir Stephen Fry Hints He Is Vers When Asked At The Assembly

Actor and writer Stephen Fry was the latest celebrity to take part in a special form of interview on British TV last night.

Fry, 68, was a guest on The Assembly on ITV. In each episode of the show, a group of autistic, neurodivergent, and learning-disabled interviewers asks probing, unfiltered questions. Nothing is off limits.
 

Fry was praised by many viewers for coming across as candid, honest, and warm.

One man asked Fry about his life with his husband, Elliot Spencer. This included a question as to whether Fry is a top or bottom in the bedroom.

“Wow, that is as direct as it gets,” replied Fry. “I’m going to leave that a mystery, I think that’s best.

“Thank you for raising it, it’s a very important point. There is V in the middle of course, ‘versatile’, is there not?”

Fry married Spencer, 38, in 2015, ten days after announcing their engagement. Many people online have commented on the 30-year age gap between them. This was again asked about on the show last night.

One person asked Fry what he thinks about people who disagree or don’t like age-gay relationships.

“I feel a bit sorry for them,” Fry replied.

“I don’t see why they should have such an opinion about things, but the only thing that matters in a relationship is love.

“And, if you feel it, and it’s felt on both sides, and it’s not an exploitative relationship.”

Concerning his own marriage, he added, “I would say to people that in our relationship, Elliot has all the power, really.

“He makes a lot of the decisions about things, ’cause I trust him to. It just works for us extremely well.”

This clip came up on Gogglebox last night and Jenny turned to her gay friend and said: "What does top or bottom mean? Sheets?" He's creasing up laughing and as it continues, she still can't work out what it means and eventually says, referring to her husband: "I wonder which one Ray is? He's never said."  The naivete of baby boomers is simply a joy to behold sometimes.
