BradleyCooper 2,160
When my friends and I were watching the Super Bowl, my friend turned down the volume during her won’t you be my neighbor commercial cause of how loud her vocals were 😭

When we're in the middle of a run, we do not over exert our voices. Gaga doing the screaming she does that blows her voice out is indeed abnormal for a theater kid when we're in the midst of a run of shows. The "put your hands up" screaming and screaming the city name is just not behavior we'd get into for the exact reasons that Gaga's cancelled shows before: it blows your voice out, even if you have training. Yesss I was thinking this too. She HOLLARS and SCREECHES sometimes, Chromatica ball took lots of points for that- I'm sure she has her voice warm ups and what she does to keep it healthy but man it just makes my throat scratch. I'm an ex theatre kid as well, my voice has blown out thanks to similar situations FREE MY MIND, ARTPOP.

But then again, she always had that rock and metal edge to her! YAAASS also while I'm quoting you, just the other day I showed my father, a huge Nightwish fan, the Happy Mistake Live performance, and he said Gaga could be on Nightwish lmao I don't believe in the glorification of murder, I do believe in the empowerment of women

Also theatre kid here: the way Gaga produces that sounds is primarily through using her false folds, though, which isn’t particularly hard on your voice. MOT 3,496
I love the loud stuff for the most part. She usually makes a beautiful (and thrilling) sound. She can and does do soft and sweet sometimes too, e.g. her recent performance of Joanne just after her Gran died. She does do some belting in that performance, but it's also very tender in places. Important as well I think to remember the old chestnut of that bad patch she had in 2019 and into covid. She got shouty and harsh back then, but that simply doesn't apply now. She's not perfect, she misses the target occasionally. In amongst the almost relentless gorgeousness of that VIY performance on the Colbert show I thought she got a little harsh a couple of times, but who cares. In overall terms it was magnificent. And don't get me started with the horrors of the Shallow bridge And especially with certain covers she did during her tribute era, she really played too much on the "look how strong my voice is" card instead of just doing the song pleasantly. yes I prefer this vers more on insta @linus9nuts
