hELXIG 44,667
Okay so I LOVE this album. I had to take a little while to digest it because it's a lot of songs and quite heavy thematically and quite slow in parts. I could've done with one ballad not two but hey if she wants to put them all out, why not right? I don't personally have to listen to every song Standouts currently are: - Is This A Cult (the way it swtiches from being enticed by the leader to taking over and turning it into a free matriarchy omg) - Garbage (holy **** the guns gave me chills) - White Boy With A Gun (very catchy melodies) - Grudges (so catchy. The knock knock part) - Weight Watchers (hey hey hey hey hey hey) - The Plague (I just love the vocal stutters and chops in this album omg) - Uncanny Valley (omg the vocal delivery is giving me something I can't put my finger on and the second verse is HOT) - Hell's Front Porch (just the subject matter is haunting) - The Last Two People On Earth (I'm not kidding this made me cry a little on first listen. A new feeling I hadn't felt before) - And of course.. THE VATICAN OMG **** ME UP when I first her the second verse "it's not wonder all the scandals involve hurting little boys.. if y'all just f.ucked each other, did some poppers, you'd see god and finally rejoice" FULL BODY CHILLS. I still get chills on my arms listening to that song Her lyrics are insane in this album! I'm so glad she hasn't lost her creative spark after retiring Crybaby. And I was so thrilled to hear similar sounds and influences to some of her unreleased stuff that I love. There's a huge Needle And Thread, Absorb, Function, and Death (original) influence and a bit of Dragon's Blood even, bit of Bombs On Monday in The Last Two People On Earth I am so perched for the second album! P.S. I have a prediction for the next album coming later this year. At the end of the last song she says "when Hades burns over..." and I'm guessing the next album will start openthe second part of that sentence. Something like "...we'll rebuild it all better" Edited Monday at 09:00 AM by hELXIG I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

This album is too dark for me idk. While I think the issues and ideas she’s writing about are real, and problematic, this is just not what I prefer to listen to on a day to day basis. Some of the lyrics I have read really made me feel anxiety/impending doom. a lot of the things she’s addressing in these lyrics also feel hypocritical. I’m tired of pop stars making tracks about capitalism, and patriarchy while they are the ones directly benefiting from the systems or also part of the problems themselves. She’s signed to a label that’s owned by a white man, making money for him while saying in her music “i won’t make money for you” and talking about how greed and money have a chokehold on humanity while she is releasing overpriced perfumes made of plastic and ripping off her fans with poor quality merchandise that she puts her likeness on. I’ve been a supporter of her music for a really long time, and love her earlier work but this releasing is just giving me egotistical out of touch superstar vibes. On my way to work this morning I got half way through the album (stopped on Weight Watchers). I am LOVING it so far tho. I love how when I listen to her albums, I get an experience. Really love it so far Also, not usually a fan of her ballads, but both Avoidant and Monolith were great! On 3/28/2026 at 7:11 AM, SpiritBunny said: This album definitely isn’t going to be for everyone. It’s very dark, dystopian and a brutally honest reflection of the state of the country and humanity as a whole. Faves: White Boy with a Gun, Monopoly Man, Batshit Intelligence (my fave), Uncanny Valley, The Vatican. Least fave: Monolith, Avoidant, Chatroom (least favorite). She really outdid herself and she’s on top of her shiii rn and I’m becoming obsessed with her again ugh I love her On 3/28/2026 at 3:15 PM, codymonster said: I listened to the second half of the album on the way back home from work and oh my gosh… Gutter and Vatican are insane Don't repress yourself, express yourself Scream, "Jesus, baby, you're hot as hell Mary don't quite make it swell But my white God ****s me real well" I don’t care what people say, she does **** her way and I am always so amazed at the vision she has. This is probably my favorite album of her entire discography, and that’s just on my first listen! I absolutely LOVE IT! 🔥 It's a no-skip album for me. Just incredible from beginning to end. What a journey! 😭🔥 On 3/29/2026 at 4:40 AM, TheBeast said: Portals was my most listened to album since its release. The bar was set pretty high for this album. I am honestly incredibly disappointed as it seems the reception of this album is generally not the same as mine. This album not only jumps that bar. It literally takes the bar, smashes it into 1000 pieces, then feeds you the pieces. It. Is. Delicious. Standouts for me are Grudges, Monopoly Man, Avoidant, Gutter and The Vatican. But literally there are no skips on this album. 10/10. On 3/29/2026 at 9:40 AM, huttont said: This album is outstanding. Portals set the bar so high for me and she met it. I feel like it will only get better as I read the lyrics along with it and digest the album. I think it’s a fresh concept for MM. On 3/29/2026 at 11:50 AM, Agunimon said: This album is so excellent! It's like a culmination of all of her work. I can hear influences of all her previous albums on it, while still exploring new things. On 3/29/2026 at 11:53 AM, TheSine said: Wonderful message, excellent vocals. Not an album I'd repeat personally, but I can see the craft that went into it. We really need those messages today. Hi. I just need y'all to know if you don't already that there is a second album coming later this year that pairs with this one. This album is all dystopian themes, and the next album is all uptopian themes. So while this album was very dark, the next one should be quite light I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin. 3

I knew, however if this is the dystopian, darker album. It would be so cool if the sound also changed to more ethereal and euphoric in the ”Utopian” album LG8 out Friday May 15th

I know she has that in her She spoke in an interview recently about how her and her writing/producing partner would go into the studio and if they were feeling dark and the world felt heavy they'd write for Hades, and if they were feeling lighter and happier they would write for the other album I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

I like that idea but I don't think so. She said she didn't choose the name Hades specifically because of Greek mythology, but just because it felt right. Hades I guess is the cult leader/name of the tech company that creates her new character, Circle. Idk exactly what all that means just yet but I'm sure if she gets approved to make the film/visual album it will all make more sense I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

Thank you I was able to listen to Hades in full a few days ago and I love it so much ! I was scared when I saw some of the opinions left by members on this thread and the fact that the snippets didn’t really resonate with me. But after diving into this project, I was sold ! Dystopia is one of my favourite genres of storytelling so this album is right up my alley. Melanie is so talented I’m eager to discover the utopian side of this project ! It could help us find a little hope in these dark times… Edited Tuesday at 07:34 AM by Rhiannon R. 1
