If it makes you feel any better, most times artists have no control over their merch. The rights are given to labels when they sign their record deal.

Well the parfum house is owned by her so while I could look the other way with the shirts and stuff, it still doesn’t sit right with me idk. It feels to me she only wants to talk about the parts of the system that aren’t working in her favor.

Very fair. I think artists don't get their fair share though when it comes to music profits so we'll continue to see them diversify into other businesses. She's famously poured a lot of money into her music so it's possible she's using the perfume as a way to speak on these issues within her art. Plus what she's speaking on is the problem of billionaires and she's leagues away from them. Not trying to make excuses and it's quite possible she's just greedy and hypocritical but I don't think it's fair to simply say "you can't speak on any of these issues because you're in a socioeconomic bracket somewhere between myself and the ultra-wealthy".

I mean I’m not saying she not allowed to speak on them but it feels just ironic to me I guess. It doesn’t resonate with me when it’s coming from those people. And that’s just my opinion.

there’s plenty of moments on the album that do resonate with me, this is not one of them.

I see very mixed feelings on there, interesting! I'll give a listen to the album later, I didn't care for K12 and Portals but some of the snippets of this album sound interesting and dark, this got me curious about the album

I listened to the second half of the album on the way back home from work and oh my gosh…

Gutter and Vatican are insane :oohrightthereyeah:

Don't repress yourself, express yourself
Scream, "Jesus, baby, you're hot as hell
Mary don't quite make it swell
But my white God ****s me real well"

I don’t care what people say, she does **** her way and I am always so amazed at the vision she has.

Well, i just listened to it for the first time, all the way through, and... she outdid herself. This is probably my favorite album of her entire discography, and that’s just on my first listen!

I absolutely LOVE IT! 🔥 It's a no-skip album for me. Just incredible from beginning to end. What a journey! 😭🔥

Portals was my most listened to album since its release. The bar was set pretty high for this album.

I am honestly incredibly disappointed as it seems the reception of this album is generally not the same as mine.

This album not only jumps that bar. It literally takes the bar, smashes it into 1000 pieces, then feeds you the pieces.

It. Is. Delicious.

Standouts for me are Grudges, Monopoly Man, Avoidant, Gutter and The Vatican. But literally there are no skips on this album. 10/10.

You can't hide who you are, 11:59.

This album is outstanding. Portals set the bar so high for me and she met it. I feel like it will only get better as I read the lyrics along with it and digest the album.

NUTELLA

Monopoly Man & Gutter choruses stayed with me

but I probably won't play them as much as I play/played the Evil, Death & Tunnel Vision choruses

Honestly for me I was worried when the singles were coming out but I love the album. I love the representation of hell but in earth as today’s problems. I think it’s a fresh concept for MM.

This album is so excellent! It's like a culmination of all of her work. I can hear influences of all her previous albums on it, while still exploring new things.

Wonderful message, excellent vocals. Not an album I'd repeat personally, but I can see the craft that went into it. We really need those messages today.

I am but a casual fan of her, loved Cry Baby, K-12 was above average but Portals really let me down and I wondered if this was her going downhill for good. I was glad to see this was a return to form somewhat. I love a good dystopian theme and my ultimate faves were Is This A Cult?, White Boy With a Gun, Grudges, Avoidant and The Vatican. I like when she goes back to that wilder, more controversial side that first made me like her. However, the album is at least 5 songs too long. Don't know why she wanted to create her longest ever album this time but I felt like some themes got repeated too often when one song per issue would've sufficed. Her diction could be better as well, she sounded congested a lot. She's really mad on this album about many things and it can come across overly preachy and isn't exactly a calming listen but with this theme, what did anyone expect? Surprised she went as out there as she did on The Vatican. It was blasphemous to the point where I'm surprised she's not raised the profile of it by making it a single to get more eyeballs on her work.

I'll say this much for her - it's amazing how much she's grown from her Cry Baby character and then killed it off to create new dimensions of characters. Based on her earliest unreleased stuff, you'd never have guessed she'd be this kind of creative. That takes time and dedication to the craft to do that, very impressive for a former Voice contestant.
