Calling someone out on their behavior just doesn’t automatically make you either of those thing. She’s just an asshole. now with Chris Brown… I dunno, I think people are just a lost cause with that one. Calling out people on their behavior is fine, but again, I think the way in which people are going about it reeks of misogyny and lesbophobia. I've seen people here get weirdly aggressive or vindictive about it. Comments like: - "She'll never be like Gaga" - "She's just cosplaying a lesbian anyways" - "She's pathetic, narcissistic, egotistical, and her career is going to flop" Don't seem like they're just calling out her behavior. That seems like an extreme reaction to something that is ultimately not a big deal. Many celebrities have done worse and received less backlash. Also, I don't think anything she's ever done has warranted this kind of reaction, much less this security guard stint. There is always going to be unhinged behavior. But calling out her bad behavior (so longs and it’s not unhinged) isn’t inherently misogynistic and homophobic. - "She's just cosplaying a lesbian anyways" is probably the only example you posted that reeks of anything misogynistic and homophobic that you’re saying. I agree, some celebs have done worse and gotten away with less but unfortunately, that’s life and how things are and we can’t police everything. I disagree with your last statement that she hasn’t done anything. I don’t think what she’s done warrants hate and I think some of the things people online are saying are fickle and extreme, but she doesn’t seem like the nicest person or come across that way at all. One of the biggest ones is how people shade her for sounding "too posh, pretentious, and bored" in interviews when Lady Gaga spent years sounding like that in interviews: Here's the footage of Gaga harassing fans and journalists 1

I don’t think what she’s done warrants hate and I think some of the things people online are saying are fickle and extreme, but she doesn’t seem like the nicest person or come across that way at all. As I said, I have no problem with people wanting to call out her behavior—even if I personally don't think she's done anything that warrants being "called out" for. I also specifically said that people were being weirdly aggressive and vindictive towards her, which is what those example comments were highlighting. Like, why the comparisons to Gaga? Saying "she'll never be her" is an unnecessary comparison that has nothing to do with whatever "problematic" behavior you see from her. It just perpetuates pitting female singers against each other (something that monsters tried to fight Madonna stans for back in the day). Or what's the deal with praying for her downfall and hoping she fails? It's just weird behavior. She's not Nicki, who has literally aligned herself with a racist, pedophilic fascist. People will always say stupid sh*t online, and yes, you can't change that. My job isn't to police people, but I can just as easily share my opinion like everyone else. As for your last paragraph, I think she only doesn't come across as "nice" because she isn't afraid to set boundaries. People will say, "Well, she's a celebrity, so she chose that life." That's a whole other conversation, but I find that line of thinking incredibly toxic and devoid of humanity. Gaga has spoken multiple times about how hard it is to balance fame and personal life. We are lucky that she's been able to navigate it more gracefully, but I don't think we can use that to denigrate Chappell and how she reacts. Chappell just went to one of Paris biggest paparazzi spot in the middle of fashion week when they're all there and ofc she was photographed as she was sure to be. She made a street drama about being photographed for minutes. Absolutely. Everybody deserves privacy, but privacy means a very different thing when you’re known by millions of people. It’s the price of fame, and she wants to ignore this fact.

Hadrian 1,288
I don't hate her per se, but what has this situation LiViNg ReNt-fReE iN mY hEaD is that I was excited for us to finally have that openly-lesbian superstar (and I don't mean just "a lesbian singer", but someone big like Britney or Gaga) and Chappell's idea of being an artist just didn't line up with that. It's her life and I know the paparazzi are total assholes, but well... baby we were such good fellas / now your ghost buys me good feta

I remember Gaga at the peak of her fame in 2011 saying that celebs saying they couldn't escape the paps were "full of sh * t " cause they would never find her when she wanted to. She attracted paps way more than Chappell does now so I would take her word. I think celebs complaining about paps can be very real just like an easy buzz gain with them being more in power than they'll admit.
