A chance to tell a slightly different more realistic story. Instead they just....spend money on CGI to make it look "more real" I guess. This might as well just be the original movie put through an AI filter. Like...the big lava monster at the end looks exactly the same as the original movie lol. But they could have changed the setting to a more modern day, had the magic be more subtle, changed the way the heros arc plays out. It still make a lot of money though, (cos at the core it's still good), but nobody want a slightly realistic story when you do remake on franchise like this, fans will expect the same story that they even know every single dialogue of.
