If Chappell actually didn't want all of the attention and scrutiny that comes with fame, she could easily avoid it. Just look at someone like Kate Bush, Enya or Mylène Farmer. They do their own thing and generally don't get bothered. Even Taylor Swift, one of the most famous women in the world, doesn't get seen when she doesn't want to be.

I think Chappell rubs people the wrong way because she walks red carpets and attends award shows, events literally designed to attract attention (and behaves extremely provocatively when doing it), then gets mad when people pay attention. If you walk the Grammy's red carpet with a dress hanging from your nipples, people are going to recognise you in public. It's not great, but it's just the reality of the situation.

Y’all will never make me dislike her  I kinda love that she has a “no f*cks to give” attitude and that she doesn’t placate to what people say just cause she’s a celebrity. She has boundaries and she isn’t afraid to let people know that, which only comes across as combative or aggressive because we expect celebrities to behave a certain way that caters to *our* demands or needs over theirs.

As for this situation, yeah, it sucks, but also, why are y'all blaming Chappell for something her security guard did? If she, herself, went off on this 11-year-old, that’s a different story. Did the guard overreact to someone who obviously was not a threat or harassing her? Yeah. But you can’t blame her specifically for something she literally did not do. 

Y’all want pop divas, but can never handle them! Like, compared to the sh*t pop stars and artists did back in the day...? The stuff Chappell does is truly not that awful. I'm generally not a "people are too sensitive nowadays" person, but I genuinely don't understand why she gets the reaction she gets from many people here.

Except they don't. Like, do you think misogyny doesn't exist? That there isn't a difference in response to women and men in the public eye, and that women  often get treated worse while men who do the same things get treated far better, and in some cases, aren't even punished.
