Gaga’s not an experimental artist though, she’s good at making non traditional pop music sure but the only time she’s actually experimented fans have hated sadly. She’s not Bjork, Fiona Apple, Imogen Heap or anything like that

Gaga thrives when she makes music influenced by the icons she grew up with I think. She’s basically the lead singer of an 80s rock band in an electropop body atp. I think a very Daft Punk style album would be a great evolution for her next.

well that's sad because I think she personally loves to experiment

She does experiment but she’s hardly experimental in the sense of being an experimental musician. She’s a pianist which requires structure, she writes pop songs which require structure, even her most experimental song (Aura) has a traditional pop structure. She’s not gonna suddenly become actually experimental beyond genre bending in her music I think.

This is very Mayhem, and honestly this era was great… but I’m over it. I’m ready for something new.

Thank you. I feel like because the era/marketing/visibility itself was good, sometimes Little Mayhemers are a little.....enthusiastic....about the quality of the music. :huntyga:

I AM NOT saying Mayhem is poorly produced or bad. It's DEFINITELY a good album.

But musically and sonically for me it feels like a throwback fun album and nothing innovative/serious/philosophical enough for me. Parts of Perfect Celebrity/Abracadabra/Vanish Into You begin to lyrically step into some weird and interesting ways to view the world that I wanted her to do more of ("find my clone, she's asleep on the ceiling", "choose the road on the west side as the dust flies", "it was cold in the summertime") ....but, Killah and on... the album is mostly cheesy and aimless to me.:brat: (Not counting DWAS, which is a great classic pop rock song.)

Important side note about the ACTUAL lead of Mayhem, Disease...I'm conflicted about Disease because parts of it I'm like THIS IS SO COOL, and parts of it sound....capitulating to industry sounds/generic lyricism to me. (Sonically the hook doesn't come in right on the place and then even when you get to it, it is obvious to me and not really surprising for what the build up is. BUT some of the effects and little sounds are really industrial in a new way, just placed wrong...it's like the tension could be better.) Lyrically I love "you're so tortured in your sleep, PLAGUED with all your memories" and that is such a smart dark pop lyric, but then "lay you down like 1.2.3!" is ****ing lame and feels like radio filler to me". :cheeky: I would have replaced that with "I'm your last amphetamine, blink six times if you can breathe"...or maybe "stimulate like dopamine, crash until you're on your knees". Like just some more words that are in the "Disease world". 123! Are you serious, girl?

If we get an album soon I do think there will be a smash track that feels like this for more commercial appeal, but I feel like all the other tracks will go much harder, more shouty and abrasive… like her Grammy performance..

The way she described the album in interviews prior to the release : "Dark poetry" ; "Gothic dreams"

What we actually got : Party City lyrics about zombies and werewolves. :brat:

Time. It will not wait, no matter how hard you hold on...
