Sorry - I’ll never get over “in the shall-ha-la-la-la-la-low as the best thing they could come up with to complete that line in the chorus.   Die with a Smile is superior is every way.

Both are nice, but Shallow takes it for me. This was the moment where she proved that her talent will defeat all odds and bring her success. Radios didn't want to play Shallow in 2018 at first (this was literally a public announcement), but then she won the Oscar due to her talent and the song shot straight up to #1 and radios had to play it then. Plus, Shallow is experimental with the unique song structure it has. Just an incredible moment. This is no shade to Die With A Smile since it also has great musicianship, but Shallow just takes it for me.

DWAS is a very well written song that I quite enjoy. But Shallow was such a moment. Plus that bridge.

(But ARUTW is the actual winner for her big ballads.)
