It was about oil in the beginning and it’s about oil today. In reality, no country uses nuclear weapons offensively (except the US, again, ironically) Not even North Korea. It’s a deterrent. Imperial powers hate it when smaller countries have deterrents to their aggression. Okay. Calm down. we can agree the United States’ role is nasty and slimy without starting to simp for Iran. they behead gays. That’s not an exaggeration. Don’t be stupid. Iran should never have access to nuclear weapons. technically no one should. 2 1

The nuclear nations will never fight each other directly. But thats also why they've prioritised stopping smaller nations becoming nuclear powers. Without the bombing the Nazis would have been able to maintain and consolidate the occupied territories. WW2 had a clear singular end goal - defeating the axis powers. Then after there was a clear singular goal - establishing spheres of influence to prevent the opposite side in the cold war expanding their influence. And the result was things like the Marshall plan etc where nations were rebuilt in return for essentially being tied to the US via debt etc. Now, in the middle east conflicts there's been no end game thinking. This war being the worst example because its not been pregamed. There was no clear plan. Kill the Ayatollah and then what? I mean its Trump he does everything on a whim and gets distracted so theres never gonna be an end goal Why do u think in Canada we still havent signed a new trade deal we arent happy with? Im pretty sure our Government knows hes mind comes and goes to any issue and that unless theres a deal were actually happy with, the best strategy is to stall him as long as possible and wait out as much of his Presidency as possible to reduce the damage

It appears Trump administration simply has multiple incompenent people that don't understand the geopolitics and culture of the outside world. It seems they expected Iran to be fully equivalent to Venezuela, when Iran is a elective theocracy where the leader has power within the Shia branch of Islam. As such, is different to a classic ''dictatorship'', even though is repressive and fundamentalist, the power does not lie within a single leader, but the clerical system. The Iranian clerical system and state can survive with its political figurehead gone, making the decision to kill the previous ayatollah non-sensestical and unproductive. These are people that simply seem to not understand how countries work and it's worrying that they are in charge to decide wars and world events.

The US has an alcoholic inbred running the military and acting like its a Call of Duty game. I'm not convinced he's aware the clips coming out from military strikes aren't a video game replay. Also maybe an unpopular opinion here but oppressive or not, we do not have a World Government at this time and humanity has not come to a consensus to form one. Yes we have international organizations like the (UN) that often are more embarrasing lip service than anything else but those are collaborative efforts at best, not an actual Government As such, I do not see how we have any right whats so ever to tell other Countries what to do based on our morals. Besides its not like we dont have our own sh*t and problems and injustices (albeit less severe) we havent failed to succeed in ending. Morality and values has been constantly evolving over time and in different cultures. I think its more than a little arrogant for us to assume that the specific values the Western World has in 21st century specifically are the Universally correct ones I can think of many values we have with regards to the specific age of consent, what substances are ok to consume vs not, at what threshold are you too closely related in a family tree to be practicing disgusting incest etc. That is purely subjective without any real scientific proof of any kind to back up why we decided on those sets of specific standards One that boggles my mind the most is the obsession that 18 years old is ok for everything because we made the law that way. On what basis really? If we said 25 at least there would be some scientific basis as that is the time you rougly fully finish puperty and brain fully develops. But no, we decided that 18 is adulthood. We judge older cultures for women marrying at 14 when life was totally different but why is 18 ok? What is so fundamentally different really? We dont even question it because its the number we have hardwired into our mind that is appropriate but it could have just as easily been 17, or 19 or 20 just the same Now admitedly, the human oppression in Middle East especially women does feel a little bit more obvious black and white that its wrong based on just basic sense of justice and not as arbitrary as the examples I gave above and ud he right. But my point is still overall across the board, your stance on morality is a bit of a sketchy thing imo to use as a reason to force your will (by force) on another society you have no jurisdiction in In any case thats ultimately a hypothetical scenario cuz we all know Human Freedom is not really what Trump even ever cares about when he starts wars so im ranting over fiction in reality Edited March 11 by Economy
