Lava 3,714
Hi, all. I want to start by saying this post is just a hypothetical stemming from anxiety due to politics. I have tickets for N1 DC and am so excited to go back but I can’t help but feel my anxiety is questioning the safety of D.C. at the moment due to the fuc king idiot that is our president and the war on Iran. There’s just so much going on that I’m worried Gaga going to the city might make evil people consider doing something bad. Again, I don’t want this to cause any sort of worry for others but I can’t help but think about it. Obviously inside the arena should be fine due to security policies but we had a plan to go for four days and see the monuments and such… Is anyone else feeling the same way? Any words of ease anyone can offer? 1
Guille 1,713
Huh honey I wish I could give you another opinion, but I am going to just be honest. I genuinely think you will be ok, but it is scary. I was considering getting last minute tickets for the Boston dates and I am not so sure anymore. I don't think DC can be worse than New York or any other big city, tbh, if that's any help. Try to avoid crowded touristic spots at peak times and be at the venue for the concert just the minimum time needed, being aware of your surroundings and you'll be fine. I am guessing the US is aware of the threat and the level of caution among the police and other will be extreme though
RAMROD 114,004
IMHO there will be the usual protestors about her being satanic and stuffs like that. But it won't likely get extreme, and at least in my dates, (ATL n1& n2), there were only a handful of them. We just walk past at them. Never engange, cos that's what they want. The State Farm arena staffs are way more threatening than them, cos they really want fans to wipe off their full face make up, (like the ARTPOP ones), before allowed entry. IMHO as with in other big cities, always practice caution with your sorrounding. Enjoy your show! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ✧*:・゚ best of both worlds (*´艸`*) ♡♡♡

Concertaholic 6,458
I’ve always subscribed to the belief that you’re allowing terrorists who target civilians to win by staying home and avoiding public spaces that you would otherwise go out and enjoy. Don’t let them win and rob you of your happiness. And ultimately, when it’s our time to go, it’s our time to go.
bxr 1,109
Not sure if these words assuage any concerns but just a few general notes from the field. If memory serves, Capitol One Arena used to be Verizon Center, which is by the Metro Center/Chinatown subway stop (although they call the subway the metro in DC, thus the Metro Center, but digress). It’s super central and has a lot of pedestrian / foot traffic, but the area draws more of a recreational / entertainment / cultural demographic than political (if that makes any sense?) You’ll be by (within a few blocks radius, if memory serves) Smithsonian museums, the Spy Museum, the National Mall, the Air and Space Museum, (I think the Ono Wish Tree?), if you stay within the general vicinity of the arena (and then the SW Waterfront, if you ventures a few block down past the Air & Space Museum). Spoiler Also, in general, regarding DC navigation (going off of memory, so forgive any detours in the details), the city is designated into quadrants (NE, NW, SE, SW), so every address has four locations (so, when telling a cab driver, or when specifying a location, rule number one as a tourist or visitor, anyone really — know your quadrants (well, and the street/numerical address itself); although, rideshare probably alleviates some of the confusion, always be safe and double check the exact location; for example, Capitol One Arena is 601 F Street NW: rule of thumb is there are three other 601 F Streets in DC (NE, SE, SW)). The city also operates from Capitol Hill as the centerpoint (or technically, the centerpoint is a medallion in the crypt under the Capitol rotunda), but/and/so all of the quadrants meet at the Capitol, ex. 1 A. St NE, NW, SE, SW all begin at Capitol Hill and go outward from there — so Capitol One Arena is 6 Blocks (601) from the centerpoint in the NW direction. This is just a note for orientation, just to be mindful of the logic that the larger the number is in the address, the further you are from the center, and thus likely further from the same address’ location in a separate quadrant. And/or just try to stay central — most of the attractions are centralized for the most part. But I would say if you stick to the buddy system with your group (no liddo left behind) and be aware of your self, your group, and your surroundings you should be sorted. I saw … the Circus Tour and Monster Ball 2.0 at Verizon Center (whew, time flies), if memory serves … both were good vibes and proper electric world pop life energy — so all of the abovementioned is to also say, however your journey unfolds — enjoy the experience :)

PartySick 168,416
38 minutes ago, Bonkers said: bookmarking this comment By all means. There are huge public events every day, especially in cities like DC, and Lady Gaga is not so big that Iran sympathizing terrorists or sleeper agents would wait until now and target Lady Gaga concert which was specifically booked at a smaller than average venue. It just doesn't make an iota of logical sense for Gaga's show to be a target at all and the odds of finding yourself caught in a terrorist attack are so infinitesimally small that it shouldn't be a hypothetical that stops you from doing anything. That's not even considering the fact that it's America and you are demonstrably more likely (but still very unlikely) to be present for a mass shooting perpetrated by a US citizen just going to your local supermarket, club, beach, or elementary school. So yeah, emotionally? I understand. But logically? It's not even something you should worry about. ¡Seguimos aquí!
Juanlittlem 48,046
I almost decided to go on these dates but it ended up not happening and Im kinda grateful because the situation thats going on kinda scares me. But I was mostly scared because of the trip I had to make than the whole situation. I feel if you have someone with you it will be better.
