I work in animal care and love both cats and dogs.  I don't have any dogs because I've lived in apartments  or rented rooms my entire adult  life and don't feel that's the best environment for most dogs.  I have, however, owned a total of 5 cats over the years and its just sad that some of y'all have had such terrible experiences.

Only one of my cats was even sort of distant and he still often slept at my foot.  The others have been very social.  One of the two I have now is so velcroed to me at all times that it can be a bit adorably annoying.  They've been very interactive.  They respond to their names and some commands and know some words. I also find them to be remarkably intuitive about when I'm down or not feeling well.  The only time I've ever gotten scratched is when trying to force them to do something they really don't like like going into a carrier or giving them a bath and even then it wasn't severe wounding; just some little things that barely bled.  None of them have ever bitten me.

cat haters are lit the worst, earning a cats love its like earning human love, dogs needy asses love everyone for no reason, soo extra so dirty so stinky and SO annoying and noisy

cats are on another whole level, specially ragdolls and persians, so chill, so classy, they smell like fabric softener and are soooo cuddly, empathetic, and lovely  (well mine are, and if yours arent YOU are the problem)

Meanwhile cats just kind of exist around the people that own them  they're like big hamsters or something except they're occasionally violent and they're bad for the environment 'cause cat owners let their animals roam around outside instead of keeping them indoors where they belong.

I had to cat sit for a friend once while he was out of town and jfc I've never grown to hate an animal more than when I would simply walk into that house, put food in the bowl, change the litter box (which is also gross btw, I'm very glad my dog pees and poops outside and not in a box to stink up my entire house), all while dodging this little freak creature that randomly decided if she was gonna try to rub against me and beg for pets that day (I'm allergic, I'd never touch that thing) or fly across the room out of nowhere with an atomic elbow and fang attack.

Horrid little things  I've met aggressive dogs, I've had an aggressive dog, and not once have I been surprised or unsure about a dog's feelings or intentions.

I don't think I've ever understood a cat's desires though

Not even an argument to be had honestly. If the conversation is about "dogs vs cats" only one is called "man's best friend"  

Also, let's not pretend the only reason cats don't kill people (just billions of small animals) is 'cause they're literally 10 pounds  if cats regularly grew to the size of larger dogs (50lbs+) they'd surely be illegal to own due to how dangerous they'd be.
