AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — The gunman who killed two people at a bar in Texas early Sunday in a mass shooting that left 14 others wounded was wearing a sweatshirt that said “Property of Allah,” and another shirt with an Iranian flag design, a law enforcement official told The Associated Press.

The shooter has been identified as 53-year-old Ndiaga Diagne, the law enforcement official and another person familiar with the matter said. The sources spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to publicly discuss the investigation.

The shooting erupted a day after Israel and the United States launched an attack on Iran that killed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The FBI said it was investigating the shooting as a potential act of terrorism.

Diagne was originally from Senegal, according to multiple people briefed on the investigation. One of the people told the AP that Diagne came to the U.S. in 2006 and was a naturalized U.S. citizen.

The first of potentially many, Iran's spent decades building terror networks globally precisely for this moment.

They know they can't go tit for tat in direct military vs military conventional warfare, their only hope is to force the US to fight a war on multiple fronts against unpredictable and difficult to track enemies while also making allies reluctant to open themselves up to the same risk.

Feels like that would kind of backfire tho, no? Given that the reason for the terror attack would be the unpopular military intervention (a threat Iran specifically made in the lead up to the conflict), which in turn makes him responsible for the terror attack. I don’t really think there’s that much benefit/incentive for him to do that and, if anything, I see him floundering trying to stabilize the situation/sweep it under the rug atp rather than escalate further.

Planning to let it happen maybe.

But they don't need to stage a false flag, Iran has been preparing to do exactly this as we've seen with them targeting civilian areas across the gulf states.

If the admin doesn't take a "This was planned well before" stance to justify doing it in the first place. Plus it would require the tiniest bit of thought and ability to recognize cause and effect. A lot of Americans are just gonna use this to say "Brown People are bad!" and justify a war. 9/11 was considered a retaliatory attack and not a lot of people seem to recognize that (not justifying it, all of its disgusting).

I get where you’re coming from, but I also feel like the cause and effect correlation was nowhere near as immediate with 9/11. 9/11 was the culmination of decades of US foreign policy in the Middle East with no inciting incident that would be intelligible to the average American, whereas the correlation in terms of timing and seemingly in terms of message couldn’t really be clearer or more immediate here. Maybe this isn’t the best sample group, but I honestly don’t even see MAGAs trying to defend Trump’s actions in Iran, so if his ride or dies are barely buying the bullshit, I don’t see the average American buying it either.
