Are you guys for real? Or you don’t know what’s happening around the world? There are numerous countries that uses what you post on the social media (even a slight disagreement for current Goverment) as a domestic terror excuse and put you in the jail. 
 

It might be so dystopian for you but it’s a reality in some countries. People who attended MN protests already start to get their Global Entry permits cancelled. So it’s not a distant future for the US as well.

It's not even the government you have to worry about, it's unregulated corporations.

They gather all your data, including your face and all the information on your ID, piece it together with public info (usually provided if you're a voter), then sell that info to god only knows who.

You've lost control of your information and your data which is a violation of your autonomy and privacy.

And it's true, all of our info is already out there. The info we GGD mods can see about users is actually crazy, I can only imagine what companies like Discord have. But regardless of that fact, we deserve to have control of who has our data, when they can have it, and what they can use it for.

You surrender these things willingly and you've lost control. I'm just not cool with that  I'd rather miss out on the couple Discord channels I'm in than willingly turn my biometrics and ID over to them.

It's not the company's responsibility to protect kids. All they need to do is write into their TOS that kids aren't allowed on their service and they're protected from liability.

Parents need to be responsible for what their kids do. It's a parent's job to protect them, not to give them a phone with unlimited internet access and hope Discord and other services infringe on the privacy of millions to pretend they're protecting them.

I mean to each their own of course, but the internet has been around for almost 50 or so years now, so there’s no way all this information about people isn’t already gathered up. I mean look at your smartphone and smart speaker systems, you get ads based on things you TALK about irl and not typing into your phone, on websites like Facebook on your phone.

By all means ofc don’t use the biometrics and stuff but let’s be honest, an iPhone now requires Face ID and fingerprint scanning so Apple already has it, the government has always required a face picture on your passport or driving license so they already have it. AI now exists to an extreme level so it can process data faster, I wouldn’t be shocked if eventually things like targeted ads happen on television where it’s different per household and advertises to you specifically and your interests and stuff.

All I'm hearing is "you've already been shot, why not agree to get shot again?"

"They already have your info" is not a good enough reason for me to consensually relinquish control of my data for every little service I use

Then their kids are left vulnerable. And that's their failure as parents. I don't have any kids, it's not my responsibility to childproof society.

But if I DID have a child, I'd teach them as best as I could about how to be safe online and make sure they're as knowledgeable and careful as possible when navigating online spaces. Then I'd hope for the best.

I certainly wouldn't petition apps and companies to gather user info (including my child's info) to play security theater.

They're not fans of that.

Plus they've also started trying to compile lists of people based on sexuality/gender ID etc and label them domestic terrorists. So its also worth avoiding being one of the first targets for the camps.
