I mean… it’s been this way forever, Lily Allen made a song only for it to market a department store for Christmas. Britney, Beyoncé and Xtina collaborated to make a song for a Pepsi Super Bowl commercial, Madonna launched her entire CODF campaign by advertising with a mobile phone service for Hung Up. Things like this has happened for years it’s nothing new.

The 80s were rife with songs made specifically for other media.

Now a bank wants to make a song about togetherness using arguably the queen of togetherness. Covering a song about inclusivity in a time where American is divided heavily to promote the concept of neighbours and  togetherness for mortgage offers, because people associate owning your own home as something everyone wants. It makes sense tbh.

This.

Apple is guilty of far more serious and monstrous crimes than flogging real estate.

I think this company shows where it stands and what kind of buyers they want for their homes when they asked Gaga herself to campaign with this song.

MAGA freaks will invariably refuse their services, which is a win.

I don't see the issue here.

I mean if we’re getting into the nitty gritty, Spotify is owned by a billionaire who believes that the rich are paying too much tax and should have to pay less whilst we the working class should pay more tax because billionaires “keep the world running with their genius” and believes that it’s “putting off creatives and wealthy leaders” in a lot of the world. That’s a literal quote from him before he stepped down as CEO (but he’s still a Co-founder and owner). But I still see staunchly anti-capitalist people on here streaming music on Spotify. That is a far more strong view than Gaga taking a donation to her charity and making the song for an advert.

Celebrity endorsement and “face of” branding has been around for decades. Gaga was even at one point the face of a board of tourism to promote a country back in like 2008/09 lol

I mean, Rocket Mortgage acquiring Redfin still doesn’t correlate with housing shortage issues nor the predatory property buy ups of private equity firms.

It was actually bought cause the revenue wasn't there. Real estate might finance your local sport club or citibank, the soccer league or whatnot and no One Bats AN Eye.

Is It much worse than being sponsored by a brand such as Apple. Because then there's ethical questione, resources. This Company really isnt some Devil thats being portraied...

Not feeling this tbh :huntyga:

I'd rather see her grabbing her money for her music than for some random commercial stuff with actually no deep goal apart getting a check. Just my opinion on this. A skip moment for me :poot:

point is, she was a sponsor for Apple, I mean, Stupid Love IS an Apple advertisement, the whole "shot on iphone" and the BTS video, it's all an ad.

911, ad for LG.

She did that BTW ad with Google (the one of the bridge)

even this:

was an Apple ad.. the description: "In their FaceTime call, The Duke and Lady Gaga discussed" and in the video there is a zoom on the MacBook and Facetime.

So it's not like she didn't collab with sketchy capitalist companies in the past, she did, even for good causes.

It's the only way unfortunately.

Oh but from the getgo. I mean Wasnt there a big lawsuit regarding Beats head phones?

Its the only way of you want the big budget and immense payola. If they don't inject millions info those songs those streams disappear into thin air. She makes millions, Yes but the investment tò keep It all going Is astronomic.

I had forgot about these last ones.

Like i said earlier, badbunny made the same empty message, subliminale video. Way way more subliminar. Was praised as of he did something. But its all about image, Gaga Is White and comes from previlege. And Is a bit snobby... And that rubs everyone wrong in a Heartbeat. And as per usual this site condemns everything She does. Its suffocating. Not that its not right, but honestly that Was very beautiful, at least acknowledge that before stonning here. Otherwise we're here Just tò hate her. Those multi dollari figures don't come from nothing, and ethical questions don't arise with the billion figure.

Lady Maga at it again

This is so opposite of that lol

She's doing an ad singing about compassion and inclusivity for a company that's going against the administration by having their ad play during Superbowl headlined by Bad Bunny who's been a target of maga..

u never agree with what she does, you always complain and always so negative :Cautious:

Am I? :wtfga:

Have I been critical of some of her decisions? Sure, I think it’s also what a fan forum is for. Not just for yassing and gagging at everything.

Now, if the general consensus of my involvement of 15 years with GGD is that I always complain and am always negative, then I’ll gladly stop posting. Honestly, I’m saddened by your post. I would really hope that my contribution to this forum is more than that.

Of course, all of that is true. It’s part of the game, I hear that.

I just think dabbling in big pharma and real estate is a whole other beast, though. If finding those endorsements questionable makes me negative and unsupportive, so be it.

I'm so tired by fans insisting that Gaga should speak up on every political matter. What does it achieve by her doing so? It sadly won't change anything - and, you know, it's actually more sensible to not stoke certain situations, which A-list celebrities making commentaries can often do. Celebrities endorsing Kamala and Hillary was a part of the reason they lost their respective elections. It's also a slippery slope - Gaga has been a vocal advocate for the queer community, which is very targeted, focused and relevant to her place in the world. Yet, because of that, there's this expectation that she now also has to be a voice for everything and everyone - and if she isn't, it means she doesn't care. No. It means, for a myriad of reasons, she may not wish to insert herself into certain public matters, irrespective of her own views and actions behind the scenes.

Anyway, I don't love the capitalist collabs but I also understand that 'LADY GAGA' is a brand and business and there are big bills that need to be paid. At least she's using her talent here and singing about unity.
