1 yhear ago, FKA twigs released her third album, a critically acclaimed techno-dance experimental record.

Upon release, the album as met with critical praise, following the acclaims of her previous two albums LP1 and MAGDALENE. NME praised Eusexua for being a "cohesive and transcendent artistic experience", while AllMusic said FKA twigs "has guided listeners through a remarkably honest song cycle. The complexities are where her music thrives, and Eusexua abounds with them."

Original tracklisting included masterpieces like EUSEXUA, Girl Feels Good, Room of Fools, Sticky, Keep It, Hold It, 24Hr Dog.

The album is very good. The videos, the overall aesthetic. The concept. For some reason, gay people turned their backs on it, don't you think? I feel like when an artist gives us exactly what we want/are looking for, we just let them fall. Or when it becomes too “obvious” who it's aimed at... With all due respect, I think this is the case with Allie X or artists who are too devoted to their gay male audience.

It is very good, but it’s one of her first projects, ironically, that felt kind of overrated to me. One thing I’ve always loved about Twigs was the way that she experimented with so many different styles, sounds, and influences and EUSEXUA feels, in some instances, like a ROL reheat or just like it’s too heavily indebted to/pulling from one specific era sonically. She’s incredibly talented, but for some reason, this one just didn’t really click for me.

Well tbh I kinda don't care about the DaGheiz :glamourpuss: That said, I kinda do share your concern as I was socked by the critical reception of Afterglow. She has always been a critical darling, especially in the 2010s (when this was a rare thing!!). Since the 2010s everybody and their mother became MORE critically acclaimed, but she was left behind to the point that her new records' reviews are basically lackluster and mixed. But her albums are still amazing pieces of work, well-crafted and studied and deserve better.

You just need to give it more time. :bradley:

I was un-impressed by all her albums, then eventually became obsessed. They simply take time to fully adjust.

Except Caprisongs, we do not claim as an album for a reason. :awkney:

I’ve listened to EUSEXUA and Afterglow a few times and they just doesn’t really click for me. I’ll always be an LP1 -> MAGDALENA girl tbh.

''A few times'' is still not enough for experimental, immersive music. :messga: For me it was a struggle to listen to all of them (LP1, Magdalene, Eusexua), but when they eventually click,  they are so rewarding.
