I think hos point was that its harder to pass things if ur further to the left than most of the party as ur own party wont support half ur motions Mamdani isnt exactly an apples to apples comparison. Being in charge in a blue city and being able to pass things is very different from a Bernie or AOC at the Federal Level I mean, in order to get universal childcare in NYC, he had to get the Governor (who is to his right) to sign on and fund it for the whole state. Also: this user was explicitly referring to state level centrists, so that’s why I think the dynamic between Mamdani and Hochul is relevant. I think moderation can be helpful in implementing policy, but in moments that call for bold, decisive action come (like rn) most of them become paralyzed in fear and basically do nothing, which is most of what we’ve seen from establishment Dems since Trump was re-elected. SpadesToStart 3,810
As a Minneapolis resident who has seen every camera angle of this incident plastered across my social media all day, this was absolutely unconscionable murder. The victim never drew his weapon (which he was legally carrying). He was not brandishing it whatsoever within the early moments of the incident (right hand holding cell phone, left hand empty). Even up to 2 literal seconds before he is shot, you can see his hands empty and clasped in front of his head on the ground. An agent, finding the victim’s gun on his person, shouts “Gun” and removes it. A split second after this occurs, another agent opens fire on the man on the ground, likely out of panic after hearing there was a gun (that had already been taken off him). Angel down, angel down, but I can assure you we will NOT just stand around in MN. 3 1
Lord Mayhem 3,448
Trump and his administration dont seem to want to cool the flames of Civil War but willingly fan them... This way...Trump can invoke the Insurrection Act...declare marshall law...and block the midterms which he more than likely feels Republicans will never win at this point So...hes thinking...go all out...take over everything before Dems impeach and remove him from office to face his crimes against the US and our allies Edited January 25 by Lord Mayhem

Id be shocked if he even listens to house restrictions they impose when they win that. This is a lawless country being run by a criminal and half of the population is too brain dead/evil to realize it or care. This country is a failed state and the only thing that can stop this is a general strike that collapses the economy temporarily. We all know that’s not going to happen. This society has been engineered for decades to keep us divided. Actually I support the OP here. Or at least remain hopeful. This is the tipping point. Two, white, moderately young American citizens with no criminal record of note have both been murdered in cold blood. A similar phenomenon happened with the death of Ryan White, a young boy that died from AIDS due to an infected blood transfusion. Ryan had no “guilt” on the popular consciousness. His death was a major factor in the change of conversation around HIV/AIDS. I think similarly here: we’ve reached the crossroads where what the average American does and expresses in the next few weeks will be the ultimate test. Because if you were making *any* excuses up to this point, you’ve run out. You’re delusional. (Not you you but you know what I mean.) 2

He’s pretty regularly restricted by the courts (he actually has a 93% failure rate in court) and protests against ICE in other cities have effectively run them out of town (LA, Chicago) and his escalation here, imo, is a display of profound weakness, not strength. His approval rating is in the toilet, he’s approaching the lame duck period of his presidency, people are outraged over Epstein and the ICE raids…IMO, this is his (and likely MAGA’s) death rattle. It is pretty incredible how much courts have done to slow his authoritarian rise, even as republicans have infused more and more authoritarians in the courts, state and federal. I'm no expert on state and federal courts lol, but how much longer will they hold so much power over him? He's wiggling his way through and around all their barriers. Thus far the courts have been key in holding him back and thus saving lives... but it seems like they are losing longterm. This being the death rattle of Trump would be amazing I fear it may be Trump finally proving his grip on the nation Edited January 25 by Skyana Rava

This being the death rattle of Trump would be amazing And I fear trump has changed the country and government and culture too much for the legal system to hold up against his agenda at all. I don’t really see him getting around the courts all that much, tbh. I mean, I remember when the admin swore up and down that Kilmar Abrego Garcia would never return from El Salvador in spite of SCOTUS ruling that they needed to facilitate his return and yet, lo and behold, he’s home in Maryland. More recent example: SCOTUS ruled against his deployment of the National Guard in Chicago and Portland and the admin complied and removed the troops. Same thing happened when an international trade court ruled against the tariffs. Trump’s style of authoritarian bulldozing only works within a system that’s thoroughly corroded and our guardrails aren’t anywhere near as threadbare as they’d need to be for this to work, imo. The biggest thing he’s got going for him, atm, is that Congress is playing possum because the Dems both don’t have the power and don’t want to appear overeager to impeach him (and many of the centrist establishment Dems aren’t even incredibly committed to meaningfully fighting him), while the GOP is afraid of upsetting his base and is essentially deferring to the courts to check him where they otherwise would (like the tariffs, which they hate lol). That’s part of the reason why I reject the idea that the midterms won’t make a difference. If the Dems take a meaningful majority and have a strong progressive wing, they will absolutely impeach Trump. In that context, the only thing that theoretically horrifies me Is the fact that he pardoned 1,500 who tried to prevent him from being lawfully removed from power on 1/6, which implicitly gives them his approval to do the same thing should anyone try to impeach him. However, I genuinely think MAGA is so profoundly fractured and disillusioned atp that I’m not even sure they have the juice for Jan 6th 2.0. 27monster27 15,916
https://www.instagram.com/p/DT8C74HkxRA/?igsh=ZzRrbjN4bTNyZXBn A new video confirms that the federal agents already took the gun before shooting him. This means that the man who shot him had no threats against his life at all, not that there weren't any already because the guy was only filming. On top of this, this disproves some claims that the man shot was getting ready to pull out his gun to shoot the agents. he/him/his 1

Republicans WANT to do the right thing. Listen to Rep. McBride talk about all the Republican representatives that apologize in private to her while they vote for anti-trans legislation. They have morals and common sense, they're just too spineless to stand on business and risk angering MAGA. They're even bigger cowards than the Dems are.
