I totally get why other people would find this amazing. I personally don’t want to be that far from earth and oxygen. It’s definitely a personal thing also. I also don’t have any interest in scuba diving. I just don’t want to be dependent on some external apparatus to breathe. Tourist destinations will need full time employees But even 1 year contracts would place u at unhealthy radiation levels. The pay better be reeeeeeeal good. I used to have a huge fear of what it would feel like to be in a rocket taking off, I can hardly manage a plane taking off haha so the travel would halt any idea of exploration for me. Like legit hazard pay I'd gladly take that job I've recently been reading about this one bacteria species that can withstand like 3000 times the radiation that's lethal to humans 'cause its biology is such that its proteins rapidly repair damaged DNA without error. Radiation destroys the tools our cells need to repair damaged DNA but that bacteria protects its machinery with manganese-peptide based antioxidant complex. Theoretically, we could synthesize a medication or treatment that could replicate that in our own cells. In fact, that's exactly what scientists are doing right now to protect astronauts during solar flares and long term space habitation. It wouldn't stop radiation damage but it would help us fix it within hours instead of weeks or months. Combined with their g-force simulator it was a lot of fun I bet the aliens think we're so inelegant though.
