I actually agree with his ranking for the most part. There's the occasional slip-up though like not putting Camila under flops (I love her and all but lets face it, she was a one hit wonder) and I would definitely say that some of the choices are more US-centric as some of them are literally nobodies outside the US. That's definitely true of SZA who I also wouldn't regard as pop and she's still very new with only one hit album to her name as of yet so I have no idea why he put her under MPGs. And Rihanna is definitely a nostalgia act these days. She objectively can't be called an MPG when she hasn't made an album in a decade and her last enduring hit (Diamonds) over 13 years ago. Literally nobody else would be granted this special treatment if they'd been away as long but she doesn't get this treatment because she's next level talented or anything, it's purely based on the superficiality of "she had a lot of #1's."

Seriously, it's the only name that has me completely stumped. And in level 3 at that?!

She's for sure paid for time and time again. Truly the economic queen of the dollar.

Shame money doesn't translate to impact 'cause I can only name one artist that's cited Taylor as an influence and Taylor bullied, targeted, and I think even sued her 'cause she's a spiteful, greedy freak :flop:

Meanwhile, how many dozens, HUNDREDS of artists have said Beyoncé inspired them? How many of Gaga's peers look to her as the peak of artistic genius?

Taylor's nothing but a wallet tbh. Propped up on undeserved hype by weird fans who fall for her predatory marketing every time she has a voice memo of her "singing" to sell them.

:golfclap:

And because of that, nobody says "oh yeah, Taylor Swift is my biggest influence" and if they ever dared to, she'd probably take them to court :toofunny:

I dislike Taylor as much as the next Gaga fan and certainly don't like her as a person and I too, once thought that despite her success, no one was actually inspired by her. Well, turns out, I just didn't do my due research as if you look at this article under "creative inspiration"...:

 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cultural_impact_of_Taylor_Swift#Creative_inspiration

She has inspired a whole lot of people as it turns out and if you look at their artistic output, you can see how they were inspired. Even Paul McCartney was inspired by her to write his 2018 song, Who Cares. If you scroll down, you can also see where she's inspired people in literature and film. She's also been the most covered artist since the 2010's. Yes, I know, the level of gushing they do over her is hard to bear. We can hate it til the cows come home but the fact is, she has a lot of fans, so there's a lot of people getting inspired. But if it's any consolation, we can be smug in the knowledge that Taylor's music is only consumed and cared about by her fans but has no impact outside of them.

It is quite literally impossible for her to influence anyone for one specific reason: she has no identity.

She's never innovated, she's never done anything new, there's nothing unique about her other than how easily consumable her lazy music is and how she's gaslit her stans into forking over their hard earned money with fake "limited time only" releases and cheap gimmicks like yodeling in an empty room into a voice note and selling a whole album with it.

To quote MJ again, "learn from the greats and become greater". He did that through dance, music, and stage presence. And in doing so, he forged his own style and changed the game.

Gaga's done that as well. Beyoncé has too. Hell, I'd even say artists like Billie have done that. They're all immediately identifiable and should anyone take inspiration from them, you can trace it back to them.

But Taylor? Nah. Anyone who cites her can be sure they're just getting some watered down mediocre version of past artists' work filtered and strained through the fabric of her façade while she scams her way to the top of the charts that lost all meaning decades ago anyway.

I truly, truly have no respect for this woman :toofunny:
