BREAKING: Venezuela's Supreme Court appoints Delcy Rodríguez as acting president

Rubio has claimed that "Venezuela employed many Cubans to work in security positions", which is another pretext for the US to exchange probably most of Venezuela's élite in favor of pro-US politicians...more puppets to come....that is to turn V into a permanent US colony. Miss Rodriguez is now forced to collaborate or be removed. Trump has taken control. She surely is not pleased, but has only limited options and no power to oppose.

The biggest loser apart from V is Europe because China now gets cheap energy from Russia, whereas America has its own energy and now gets stolen energy from Venezuela, while Europe - because it put sanctions on Russia - has only expensive energy options left. This will make Europe fall more behind China and America, who now have access to so much energy.

Also in 2005, the EU had a larger economy than the US - now the US has a significantly larger economy than EU+UK, the EU is falling back in relevance.

This makes the EU more dependent on the US and while some EU leaders criticised the invasion today, some, if not most, were not critical and said more neutral terms.

I can understand that many Venezuelans, both at home and abroad, are glad Maduro is gone because he committed crimes against humanity. Yes, there was misery. However, in the past, the US replaced so many leaders in Muslim countries and in Africa, and afterward, there was peace for perhaps 5-10 years, and then it descended back into chaos. France replaced leaders in Africa, and afterward, there were perhaps a quarter fewer human rights violations, but overall, there remained a great deal of dysfunction and human crime nevertheless, and raw materials were sold cheaply to French companies, from which the local population benefited little. The media then just reported less about the crimes.... because the country's leadership was considered OK.

Venezuela is a Sozialist state whose companies cannot possibly be economically successful on the global market, at least not for the next 30 years, and will be displaced by American companies.

I don't expect rosy times ahead for Venezuela. Sure, there needs to be change and reforms, but it would be more effective if it comes from within.

It won't ignite a world war because there's a return to spheres of influence - America from Poland to the Pacific/Okinawa or from the East Coast to Guam in its own borders, Russia from the Bering Strait to Kaliningrad, and China in the South China Sea.

Russia and the USA are now LESS likely to wage war against each other because both get a piece of the pie. Ironically, the global world is now safer (but not for Eastern Europe and Central America). There could be a clash between the USA and China because the USA insists on a claim to power over almost the entire Pacific, but this is unlikely to be sustainable if China continues to grow stronger and will claim its share of the Pacific. So a global war is much more likely to erupt around Taiwan than over Venezuela or Ukraine.

Once again, the EU's reaction to this blatant violation of international law is absolutly pathetic. Trump is 100% anexing Greenland in the next 3 years and these European leaders reaction might just be "We're closely monitoring the situation, please do not escalate too much haha"

True, he's made himself virtually untouchable.

Venezuelans have the right to be happy no questions asked BUT Trump did not act with congressional approval AND this is obviously about oil. On top of this, these actions cause dictators to want to rise up.

So stupid.

This isn’t stupid, it’s CRIMINAL. But as always the US will avoid any kind of punishment or sanctions. Just like the other old horrible white man, Netanyahu

God the replies to that post are ridiculous :rip:

Lots of people bringing up Obama nabbing Osama Bin Laden, which is completely different from plucking a president.

More saying the left was silent in the face of Obama's drone strikes...which...no :icant:

Whimsical bitch
