They willingly have sold out to the US and ignored constitutional violations in order to have security. I can't say I blame them after the HELL that country went through. But it's definitely a case study in how authoritarianism can creep in even when the lives of people are better than before. No, I certainly understand how they got there, but it just goes to show why a good rule of thumb is, “Fascism: not even once.” We have forgotten our public MANNERS

People being from privilege doesn't mean they aren't allowed to have opinions. I've seen that hurt the left-wing movement way more than what you are suggesting. A lot of left-wing people hate Maduro, especially when he wanted to invade Guyana last year. Also: since when does being from Venezuela make you automatically right about the situation? Lmao. The true damages of the “lived experience” orthodoxy at work. We have forgotten our public MANNERS
Morphine Prince 109,683
Kamala Harris: Donald Trump’s actions in Venezuela do not make America safer, stronger, or more affordable. That Maduro is a brutal, illegitimate dictator does not change the fact that this action was both unlawful and unwise. We’ve seen this movie before. Wars for regime change or oil that are sold as strength but turn into chaos, and American families pay the price. The American people do not want this, and they are tired of being lied to. This is not about drugs or democracy. It is about oil and Donald Trump’s desire to play the regional strongman. If he cared about either, he wouldn’t pardon a convicted drug trafficker or sideline Venezuela’s legitimate opposition while pursuing deals with Maduro’s cronies. The President is putting troops at risk, spending billions, destabilizing a region, and offering no legal authority, no exit plan, and no benefit at home. America needs leadership whose priorities are lowering costs for working families, enforcing the rule of law, strengthening alliances, and — most importantly — putting the American people first. 4

Ladle Ghoulash 53,164
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: It’s not about drugs. If it was, Trump wouldn’t have pardoned one of the largest narco traffickers in the world last month. It’s about oil and regime change. And they need a trial now to pretend that it isn’t. Especially to distract from Epstein + skyrocketing healthcare costs. Bernie Sanders: President Trump does not have the constitutional authority to attack another country. When 60% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck, he should focus on the crises at home, end his illegal military adventurism and stop trying to “run” Venezuela for Big Oil. These are the statements I like. She recognized that Maduro is evil, AND she stated why the act being done this way was wrong. One of the things that pisses me off about the current era of social media is that people constantly don't seem to understand how things aren't always mutually exclusive. Someone saying that they think what Trump did was wrong does not automatically mean that they like Maduro and what he did. he/him/his

On the one hand, American sovereignty would be immediately destroyed and we'd enter an existential crisis like we haven't seen since the civil war. On the other hand....no more Trump I think I'd rather suffer through the next three years tbh. Trump's our president (barf) we picked him (barrrf). If he's gonna be removed from office, it's got to be through congress. Well he definitely isnt in Congress' good side with his dismissal of them and feeling he doesnt have to notify them or ask permission to do anything. The republican party seems to slowly be getting tired of Trump's antics and clear delusion on the realities of what's happening in the country and to everyday Americans

They know even if Trump stays relevant in their party for the rest of his life, he's an old man with failing health who won't be around too much longer. They've got a few good years left of the personality cult (which has already started to erode anyway) and they're caught between panicking over that and being infuriated at his constant disrespect, flagrant dismissal of traditions and the law, and the amount of danger he poses, even to people on his side.
