And this is a controversial take but I'll stand by it.

The tumblr-ization/enshitification of left wing discourse around masculinity & intersectionality became so distorted and ****ed that this manosphere bullshit is a direct result.

I also blame the american domination of such discourse because they either are ignorant or actively dismissive of other countries and their social makeup while forcing american discourse and analysis onto them.

I think you’re fully right, tbh. I actually think how about damaging and staggeringly bad much of the way that left wing ideas are communicated in general definitely plays a role. So many great ideas packaged in the least attractive way. “We want men to be less rigid in their masculinity for their sake and the sake of the women, gay men, non-binary people et al in their lives and in society, how should we convince them? Oh, I know! Browbeat them to death about “toxic masculinity.’”

IMO same goes for “white privilege.” Right idea, absolutely god awful, borderline anti-woke psyop type framing. Part of the left wing political project, moving forward, has to be about reframing their ideas and actually just making them palatable (which many of them actually are!) and more easily digestible and co-optable.

It's the sensationalism and controversy that gets them, there's nothing entertaining or dramatic about being more central or focussed on common sense lol. Extremely young people are straight up children still and the only way for them to have any interest in politics is to turn it into reality TV.. Sad but true, I just hope most of them grow out of it :awkney:

I say this all the time. People don't believe what is true or real, people decide to believe what they find the most exciting. Same reason we have so many conspiracy theorists. It's boring to believe that ancient civilisations were intelligent and hard working, but it's exciting to believe in aliens

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

Yeah this is one of those that annoys me most. Its a term that came out of intersectionality discussions but while it was created as a part of a whole, idiots have turned it into a sledgehammer.

White privilege absolutely does exist. And a white person of the same identical background to a person of colour given the identical chances etc will have the advantage in a white society.

But it makes me ****ing laugh watching middle class white collar workers telling people in poverty that they have it better than them because they're white.

Its why I hate Cynthia Erivo for her comments slagging off North East england after visiting it on a theate stop because she felt out of place. She felt out of place because she's a top 1% earner in the UK and was visiting the poorest region in England.

The most ignorant voices are often the loudest, their opinions lack nuance, create controversy, controversy gets clicks.. You see how it goes.

Modern media absolutely despises anything sensible because it does not generate views. It's why all of these extreme influencers are popping up everywhere, they have an incentive so say the most outlandish sh*t because they make big f*cking bank on of it :madge:

The murdoch media empire is a master at distorting academic discourse and converting it into deritivie rage bait tbh.

It also doesn't help that the left wing voices we do have are usually pr*cks with superiority complexes or dumb white twinks who do it just because they love "debate" and think its all a game.

That's the issue, those are the main ones they see because it gets them angry. The other ones get drowned out because it's not exciting to not be outraged :air:

It's the same energy as the boomer ladies at your office job that just love to talk sh*t and gossip instead of actually improving their working conditions :ladyhaha:

Also why I just mentally checkout on most of it :awkney:

Usually I’d be on the opposite side but it made me so mad when she came here and made negative opinions into “facts”. Does the north east have a racism problem? Absolutely but we’re also a poor region of the country and we often don’t like people who have wealth.

I used to be actively involved in UK party politics (even helped contribute to policy once) and yeah, I burned out hard because its just filled with old people with nothing to do and young professionals which are genuinely sociopaths.

Yeah, there's no denying there's a racism issue in the region (or the country...) but like ofc the rich actress didn't see people that she felt a connection to. She wouldn't dare step foot in a working class area of those cities.

Also the north east’s next biggest population to white people is South Asian immigrants not black British people. So she will have seen diversity just not the diversity she wanted I guess

In one page the thread listed from "I wish my tonsils were perpetually bruised by these toxic himbos" to a proper, sober social discussion.

Y'all can't keep getting away with this.

I don't know who this is. I will be surprised if the evangelical church stays quiet about Vance if he runs for president. In Christianity it's important to marry someone of the same religion. There is a verse calling it equally yoked (like an ox pair), since Usha is Hindu you'd think this group would throw a fit. We'll see.

He'll be married to Erika Kirk before a 2028 run.
I'd bet on it. All the signs are there that him & Usha are going to split.
