Alxjcgn 1,208
I want to respect her success so bad but I just can't lmfao, I actually brought myself to watch some of her Colbert interview and couldn't make it past 4 minutes because I just can't stand her. Maybe she reminds me too much of people I already dislike (and that idea is why I also dislike her fanbase), but I swear to god for an artist to be someone I found catchy and now find unbearable... I cannot bring myself to even try and give her benefit of the doubt anymore. 3

I have all her albums, and I went to the Eras Tour (and it was a great show!). However, recently, she's been getting on my nerves. Kudos for the charity work and paying your employees well, but the bazillion variants of every album is a literal cash grab -- "ONLY AVAILABLE FOR 24 HOURS, but we're totally going to re-release them, lulz" -- as well as all the crappy merch her team constantly advertises. Also, I like "The Fate of Ophelia," but holy crap, it did not deserve to go #1, much less for several weeks, while "Abracadabra" only made the top 20. She and the Swifties are pissing people off, and for good reason.

She and the Swifties are pissing people off, and for good reason. I was a "fan" or just enjoyed her music when Teardops on my guitar was a thing.. haha I'm sure that ages me but whatever. And then you belong with me is a hit... but other than that I have just not been able to get into her and the longer time goes on, the less I can appreciate her. Edit: And thinking of something I've said on threads here before, which is she just doesn't seem to really mature that much... I just rewatched Lady Gaga's Graham Norton interview from the ARTPOP era and omg is she coked out and hilarious, but in interviews now you can definitely see her maturity and how she has stayed true to herself but also just grown up. Maybe I don't see the right videos of Taylor Swift (even though somehow I'm always seeing them whenever she does something or people show me them), but I genuinely do not see much maturity from her and so I guess that is why I not only stopped finding her songs relatable (since I'm not 14 anymore), but just don't really enjoy how she walks around like she is all that and a bag of chips. Charity work is fine but the idea of filming yourself doing charity work steals away from the authenticity of it, and her music is just not interesting. Sure it can be catchy, but it clearly does not take long to make those tracks (I say that as someone who makes music and has seen the frequency in which she puts stuff out). I have no doubt the eras tour was a good show, it had a ton of money going into the production and a lot of people worked on it. However, I still don't think it was a stand-out concert (from what I've seen) compared to a lot of other concerts I have seen. I have seen Carrie Underwood numerous times because my mom is a fan and I take her as a gift whenever she tours... and I liken those shows to one another. Only difference is one has a higher budget and is in a bigger venue. Not to say either show is bad... but it is merely just another concert. Gaga's tours have had insane theatrics... I barely follow the Weeknd but his concerts looks extravagant. Prince, Michael, Madonna, and Britney have put on phenomenal concerts. Cher puts on a concert like no other! I guess it just rubs me the wrong way when people liken Taylor Swift to the caliber of artists who really are in a whole other ballpark of performance art. She has catchy songs and the amount of money she has allows for a cool show... but she is not as theatrical and that is perfectly fine.
