He also insisted on mime-choking Diane Kruger himself for "realism" & insisted Uma Thurman perform behind the wheel of a car herself- rather than a stunt driver- permanently injuring her 🚗

I'm not running to his defense, but he asked Diane if she would be comfortable with a realistic-looking choke done by him, rather than just some guy off-screen with whom she wasn't as trusting, and she consented to that. It may sound like a weird scenario, yes, but I can get why he chose to perform that himself. I don't think he was getting some kind of lurid sexual thrill choking her. 

The car crash thing really sucks though, and I'm glad he regrets it so deeply. Poor Uma. I understand that because of the lighting differences when they tested the route vs. when they filmed her take, they drove the opposite direction, and it caused an unexpected crash. BUT still, Uma voiced her initial uncomfortableness, and that should have been respected.

I think Tarantino is amazing, but calling Dano "the weakest f*cking actor in SAG" is.. giving bullying. Bitter about personal business.

Tarantino is that guy that desperately wants to be cool but just comes off like a total dweeb loser because he tries so hard. Unfortunate because he'd actually be really cool if he could chill out a little.

Seriously tho, the reason Paul's character is the way he is in There Will Be Blood is because Paul Thomas Anderson directed him that way - he's no rookie, he knows how to direct his actors and has no shortage of iconic films under his belt with incredible performances like The Master and Phantom Thread... QT is being flat out disrespectful imo, not just to Paul Dano but Paul Thomas Anderson as well

Yeah, Paul Dano's performance is the only thing that didn't click with me. It seemed weak the first time I watched the film years ago, especially held against DDL. This is still the only criticism the film continually receives, Tarantino isn't far off here.
