I mean, just the fact how some people were screaming the club scene was “best piece of cinema in recent years”, and pretend how every scene is something completely new/groudnvreaking. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good, solid series, but it’s just “normal” cinematography, “good” acting, “nice” visuals. Nothing never seen before. Maybe it’s just 14-15yo’s overhyping? But we live in the age where the majority of tv shows are produced under the netflix model where writers etc are told they need to cut all we call good in media and prioritise making shows accessible for people who aren't paying attention to it. So while Heated Rivalry isn't groundbreaking cinema - in the current landscape, its defying the norms forced on media by shareholders. And tbh - it is kind of revolutionary to get a steamy romance show where the subject isn't treated as cheesy or stupid. The actors and the production team all 100% bought into the series and fully committed to celebrating the very essence of the story they were telling.
