So she (rightly imo) thinks wouldn't even get voted in if she did put herself up for it. But Michelle always made it clear she never wanted to run for president, and she wouldnt do it today even if her win was guaranteed, thats the true answer. Politicians dont run for president guaranteeing a presidential win. Obama is a black man with a Muslim name, who came after 9/11 and the Bush era, yet he made the impossible and won the entire country. Its not like its an impossible thing for Michelle to win, even someone like Hilary whos extremely polarizing and hated by everyone won the popular vote. She's a typical liberal democrat centrist from everything we've seen over the years. I think people hype her up and build her up as future President everyone would love precisely because she's always managed to avoid being overtly political and only steps in on very hard to argue with political areas like childhood nutrition in schools etc. She's essentially a personality people imprint their values onto which is why she remains popular even as Barack's legacy is increasingly questioned and critique'd. Yeah I think Michelle was a good pick in the past, but today, Michelle would be a step backwards for the Democratic party, considering the entire Democratic voter seems to move on to accept more progressive policies.

One thing from an outsiders perspective that I find really odd about America is yall keep electing (or bringing up names as options) that are either celebrities, billionaire business men or other known names. Like why Granted being from an upper social class gives u an edge in getting known and in politics in nearly every "democracy" but the US takes it to an extreme Edited November 16, 2025 by Economy

Nothing against her personally, but I prefer presidential candidates who have held some type of elected office before. It's like the minimum job requirement for me. I completely agree- although a good portion of this country has stayed fixated on a reality tv show host/conman/felon/rapist/unintelligent being and so quite frankly if she were to wind up becoming the best democratic candidate then I would go for it. She has made it clear though she does not want to go back to the white house and so I wonder if she said this just to get people to pull their **** together. Also- the first lady traditionally does a lot for the country and plays a role in improving the country (We know melanie doesn't, but ignore that and look at other first ladies). So I have no doubt that she is educated enough and FAMILIAR with how the executive branch works given her life experience and I would see her as a candidate who would at least have an idea of the job. We have amazing candidates and they are never going to be perfect, but as long as they aren't focused on corrupting the government and destroying the country like we see now then we should be happy to support anyone. Sad to see that we live in a country and world of so much hate and even within our own communities. I think often about this video in these times and think more people need to see this and realize that this is exactly what we are dealing with in our own country. Honestly, Hillary was a white woman firmly entrenched within the "elite" who was running without any immediate baggage (the Bill Clinton presidency wasn't a major factor for anyone under the age of like 50 in 2016). Kamala was a mixed-race woman with less support from the elite (partly because a lot of it had jumped over to Trump for tax cuts and partly because they didn't want to get their hands dirty in a race they thought was lost already) running with the immediate baggage of being part of the Biden administration. I don't think things were neccessarily worse than they were in 2016, I just think the 2024 candidate highlighted it way more due to their identity and lack of shielding really. I don't necessarily disagree. But your take on why people like Michelle is almost exactly why Trump initially got popular. The Obamas were and are so well liked because they've always come off as real and relatable. It's so obvious most people don't understand the actual complexity of our government's policies, but we can all agree in theory that Americans shouldn't be starving and that the country isn't in a good place. Also, her and her husband seem to have been liked by most world leaders in a way that seems pretty rare compared to other presidents and their families. With the US being in the gutter in regards to foreign affairs, we'd probably really benefit from someone like her spearheading diplomatic efforts. She'd be a great transitional president imo. Fix foreign policy while having a VP you can platform in order to strengthen the Democratic party. Put experts in the cabinet and they can handle quite a bit of the heavy lifting. It'd be a great reset to some of the authoritarian power consolidated to the president recently. Then in 2032 run the VP. Almost run the White House the way Joe should have from the beginning. PornoDanceFight 2,456
While I agree with her that a woman might not be POTUS in the next decade, I would be shocked if we didn’t elect one woman to the White House within our lifetimes. Whoever will be the first female POTUS will need to unfortunately be an immaculate candidate, but also has to be a worker and labor first candidate. I wouldn’t be surprised to see more AOCs and MTGs run for higher offices in the next few election cycles, and that’s ultimately an archetype for (hopefully/unfortunately) the first madame POTUS. Oh I'm sure she's familiar with how most things work, but I still feel strongly that the presidency shouldn't be someone's first elected role (the current president being a prime example as to why). No matter how close she was to the president, it's a different ballgame actually being the one in that position. I can understand if some people don't feel as strongly about this as I do, but idk it's just how I feel. I don't want career politicians who only desire staying in power to be the only candidates, but having some experience in a previous elected role would be preferred.
