People are rightfully on edge given the current state of the world, so I don’t blame them. I personally thrive on subversiveness in times of hardship, but different strokes for different folks.

And none of this would be happening if people had simply decided to dress up as the sales of 143

you can only get away with something like this if you are irrelevant, like her

an a-list, b-list or even a c-lister would experience actual backlash

This reminds me of Neil Patrick Harris's Amy Winehouse cake.

Sorry, it's distasteful, especially for anyone who's ever lost a loved one. Then again, she was also with Kanye, so clearly she lacks taste.

Okay, but explain how it can fit into a humor narrative.

Humour is very subjective. Extremes and trashy subversive takes are funny for some people. It's not that Jackie Kennedy's hyper tragic experience is funny. It's the absurdity of Julia Fox choosing such an event as her halloween costume and making it super glam that's funny. The distance is what makes it camp and trashy, and that's certainly not for everyone. It's not a tasteful take, but it's definitely done with humour. You don't bedazzle blood splatters if you're serious about the subject matter.

I don’t really see a problem. It’s been long enough.

Because life is absurd and dark humor is a way of both acknowledging history and coping with dark times.

To echo the @Ladle Ghoulash, this is c*nt tbh. I don't personally find it offensive. Distasteful? Sure. But Domino's pizza is also distasteful and I ate nearly a whole medium pizza by myself last time I got lit.

In other words

The only time dark humor doesn't work is when it's punching down at people who've already been disparaged or hurt. JFK's been dead for 60 years, his wife for 30. They don't care about this, I promise

its called dark humor. from a political assassination that happened more than half of a century ago.

yall are so tiring with your high morals and fake internet outrage.

It doesn't require outrage - fake or not - to judge it as bad taste.

Based on your reaction, I would assume you'd be on the fake outrage side if she dressed as Charlie Kirk's wife, which actually would have taken guts because our side can handle our opinions more maturely than the other side.

Anyone watch Gen V?

”Bring in Julia Fox!”

As others have mentioned, the humor is partially in the meta level “oh my God, I can’t believe she’s wearing that” level, but I also think it’s almost like “yeah, my husband just got shot, but I’m still serving c*nt.” It’s simultaneously the irony of choosing it at all as an outfit but also choosing to depict a post assassination moment as being glamorous.
