i just don’t get how taylor smith gets these numbers. I work with soccer moms and the most basic people, they all say they love taylor swift but can’t name a song post 1989.

whose actually streaming?? the album has no positive pop cultural force (no titkok trends, no viral songs). Is it all those retail stores llike H&M and starbucks playing it or something?!?!

I listened to a really interesting podcast the other week that basically said how Taylor is a weird artist in the sense that her fanbase is basically now either really young kids (under 11) or the 'wine mums' as they put it. She's lost the older teens/20s and even 30year olds because she's just not cool anymore. It's funny because her fans aren't really her age, which is so rare for a musician.

The power of the older music fan is really underestimated too...look how Die With A Smile continues to be ginormous, way beyond the traditional Gaga/Bruno fan.
