The transition from the song before into Applause gave me a heart attack, it was sooo good and powerful and overwhelming to me. 

So yes this and the opening section made me cheer the loudest!

I think part of the reaction is that most casual concert goers dont know the setlist - so Applause is a real surprise compared to getting the big hits. 

Its why Summerboy gets a good reception
