Yeah its the reality of how music sales work now.

Vast majority of the album sales are preorders or first week sales. And then near silence afterwards.

Oh for sure, the second week numbers are still great, and it’s Taylor, lots of people are going to be intrigued by the conversation and going to the album to make up their own opinion. Lots of people still do love the album, I’m not knocking that at all, I’m just saying the major first week followed by a drop isn’t a huge surprise given the nature of the pre-sales of physical media

Honey did you not read the title of the thread? She’s flopping because people hate the album. The only reason the first week numbers were so high was because her swifties mass preorder the album before they even knew what it sounded like.

Both flopped then. Obviously Taylor is a more visible artist people will drag harder, whether she deserves it or not. But the truth is the healthy margin for a second week drop is 20-50%. Not +90%

both things can be true at once. Yes she slayed the debut and second week is outperforming everyone. At the same time, the album is flopping by Taylor’s standards. If people liked the music more then it would have more longevity. 
 

Third true thing, The Weeknd also flopped because he experienced a similar drop.
