I'm surprised she didn't do anything to boost sales this week but I'm sure she will once her top spot is in danger :awkney:

I still can't get over how her best lead single ever ended up on her worst album ever.... paradoxical indeed!

normal, that first week was carried by her fanbase, they can't keep that up every damn week!

still big numbers anyway especially this being bigger than some of her peers' first week (who also sell multiple variants!)

I'm curious about how much she would sell without the billion variants and gimmicks in her 1st week.

1 CD, 1 vinyl, 1 digital version, that's it.

I can’t find it now but Billboard released an article during release week and while talking about how she broke Adele’s record they mentioned that Taylor’s true organic nombre was between 500k to 800k, similar to how Adele’s pure sales with 30 were 730k or something like that. They basically implied Taylor has the same pull as Adele did with 30 and the remaining difference was fueled by variants. Also that most rabid fans do buy at least two copies each. They had some interesting data

In the case that she only had 1 of each; cd, vinyl, digital and casette the sales would be about 540k pure sales per my calculations :lolly: still a lot but nowhere near the 4m mark of 30ish variants.

Thank you for not letting others gaslight us

Well she already charged her fans for a voice memo deluxe so I'm not sure how much more she has left to attach to the project. Plus she's gotta keep a stockpile of variants ready to keep other women from getting a #1.

I'm not sure anyone does 30+ though.

It just proves she doesn't need the gimmicks. 500k to 800k pure sales without gimmicks would still beat out all but the biggest acts in the current era.

She needed that gimmick to beat Adele’s record

It would still be above 1M. Billboard doesn't count more than 4 physical sales of a record per person so the variants only inflate the sales up to a point. She opened with 4m and there's no way 1m people bought 4 (or more) variants, so there is genuine demand that outstrips anyone else in the market. It would be fascinating to know how many individuals bought the album in the US. It is probably close to 1m.

Per receipt.

you can order 4, pay, and again, buy 4, pay.. it will count as 8 sale

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

Yeah, all her gimmicks have been record chasing. Its annoying that stans feed it.
