- In the Big Ugly Bill, they had their budget expanded to absurd proportions, which they're using to recruit randos with $50K signing bonuses

- Stephen Miller has set them the goal of deporting 3000 people a day (which, even with what they're doing, they can't meet), so although they're supposed to focus on criminals, instead they're going after the easiest people to find

There have also been recent incidents of ICE officers engaging in increasing levels of brutality towards protestors, to and including shooting a woman 7x in the chest after ramming her car with their vehicle. They’re out of control and are acting, essentially, as a paramilitary towards Trump’s end of deporting all undocumented people and intimidating non-white American citizens.

Because Trump ran on a platform of mass deportations and wants to use protests against the inhumane ICE deportations to justify cracking down on political dissent. It’s all both authoritarian theatre and an attempt to escalate efforts for Trump to consolidate power.

ICE has always had problems, but this is easily the worst it’s ever been, so if a Dem president is elected, they would absolutely reign ICE in (although atp I honestly think it just needs to be abolished).

Is there hope of this administration changing though  

I fully believe we've crossed a type of threshold, especially with the supreme court about to gut the voting rights act and basically ensure that Democrats will never hold the house of representatives again
