Alxjcgn 1,101 Posted October 15 Share Posted October 15 (edited) Both covers are pure Gaga and art- but MAYHEM just feels the most like Gaga/Stefani in one and the details of the effects in the photo bring the idea of the album together in one photo. In the Joanne cover, I see Stefani just starting to separate herself from Gaga (As I think she was initially doing in her career at the time of the release), and in the MAYHEM cover, I see Stefani solely. Almost as if the Joanne cover is Gaga embodying Stefani, and the MAYHEM cover is Stefani embodying Gaga. Both album covers are really beautiful representations of the duality she carries and how artistic she can still be while also remaining somewhat simplistic in the imagery. I understand the concept behind the Mayhem cover, it just doesn't speak to me at all. It's too obvious and simple for me I guess. I'm more of a maximalist. My favourite Gaga cover is Harlequin. AVeryGagaHolyDick 27,432 Posted October 15 Share Posted October 15 Both are really good While I prefer the MAYHEM image, I think the Joanne cover is her most iconic after The Fame Monster, it’s just instantly recognizable. The only thing that kinda bothers me about the Joanne cover is silly, (don’t kill me) but I personally think her nose doesn’t really look like hers, which isn’t the best option for such a raw image.
