The saddest movie you have ever seen?

The Fame Monster

I remember watching Grave of the Fireflies as a kid — I cried my eyes out.

Titanic was another deeply emotional experience for me; I probably watched both films far too young.

But La La Land hits the hardest. I watched it while I was an exchange student in another country, falling in love with a local. I saw so much of us in that film — the passion, the dreams, the distance. And just like in the movie, we eventually went our separate ways.

The End of Evangelion. I was sixteen I think. I just remember puttering around my house being like "...huh."

Another very close one: EO.

I couldn’t sleep for days after watching EoE. I was basically stuck on “…huh” mode for a while. But that lost shot is one of my favorite images ever and I use it as a desktop whenever I can!

Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me (or all of Twin Peaks tbfh)

Idk if these are the "saddest" I've ever seen, but boy, do they make me cry  :traumatica:

I saw Babe: Pig in the City recently and the scene when they thought the wheelchair dog died and went into heaven and he was chasing butterflies without his chair...oh I WEPT...only for the dog to come back to life and chase trucks for the rest of his days :sue:

Selena - no explanation needed :bradley: i cry every other day over her

Requiem for a Dream - not for the weak (some scenes cannot be unseen), definitely gives you feelings of hopelessness and distress to the point you want to vomit

JoJo Rabbit - although incredibly funny, it still does a good job of pulling you back to the horrible reality that many people faced in Nazi Germany especially the toll it took on the youth of the day

Coco - i can only watch this in Spanish and i cry from start to finish every time and i dont even like Disney movies like that

Pan's Labyrinth - another film that shows the toll that war takes on the youth, also loved the message that your imagination and love for humanity can get you thru the most tragic times

Brokeback Mountain broke me when I first saw it. Still haven't been able to watch it again, my gay ass is too weak for that :bradley:

I was coming here to say this! I watched it for the first time this year and was devastated!

Pandacadabra

Changeling starring Angelina Jolie always make me cry. And Tangled for some reason also makes me cry.

Dancer in the Dark. I remember walking out of the cinema and everyone was dissociated. Lars von Trier really knows how to shake people’s emotions.

A lot of my movies have already been mentioned, so I'll add in Fried Green Tomatoes. I watched that way too young and cried instantly so hard just thinking about multiple scenes in that movie.
