Maybe the real question is why people keep posting about Taylor Swift on Gaga Daily, when most of us find her bland and annoying. This is a Lady Gaga forum — we’re here to read about Gaga, not to get flooded with threads about someone else.

So this site hasn non-gaga sections including entertainment news, entertainment talk and world news.

If you want to read about Gaga, please focus on the Gaga specific sections of the forum.

Yeah, I know there are non-Gaga sections. People can post about whatever, sure, but don’t act surprised when most of us here don’t share the same love for Taylor Swift. This is a Gaga forum, not a Swiftie fanclub. Expecting everyone here to treat her like Gaga is just delusional.
And same for you:  If you want to talk about Taylor Swift, there are way better places for that. This is a Gaga forum — don’t expect everyone here to clap for her.

Fair point — variety is great, and I enjoy those other threads too. But Taylor-related posts aren’t “politics” or “science”; they’re just endless celebrity chatter about someone most of people here don’t care for (which is obvious because we are not her fandom). There’s a difference between interesting variety and repetitive fandom spillover.

but the beauty of a forum is that no one is forcing you to read threads you aren't interested in ...? clearly the people opening these threads are interested in them and prefer discussing it in this forum than on other forums because they like this community. why police and gate-keep what people are allowed to share and talk about? :cryga:

I’m not saying people can’t talk about her — go ahead if that’s your thing. But don’t expect excitement or be surprised when you get negative reactions. Some of us just don’t care or find her annoying. At the end of the day, this place is called Gaga Daily, not Taylor Daily — the focus should be pretty obvious.

No one is mandating a love of Taylor Swift.

But the rule of internet forums is - skip what you don't like.

Y'all out here complaining that Taylor threads get the most traffic and dominate the site - but in this last week at least 50% of every Taylor or Taylor adjacent thread has been comprised of people who aren't fans complaining about the new album and then complaining the threads are too popular. And of the other 50%, half of that is just people arguing about whether or not there should be Taylor Swift posts in the non-Gaga sections of the site.

Yet none of y'all seem to be using your common sense of "if I just ignore the Taylor threads, they'll get less traffic and therefore take up less room on the site".

Everytime one of y'all go into a taylor thread to bitch that it exists you boost it on the forum's inbuilt feature to recognise a "trending" topic and you boost it to the top of it's respective subforum.

So, if y'all truly dislike seeing Taylor threads in trending etc. Stop engaging. You're part of the problem you're complaining about everytime you interact.

i think you're missing the point other people are trying to make, which is that if you don't have anything nice to say ... why even say anything in the first place?  no one is expecting you to be excited but no one is forcing you to react either. that's your choice, and if you choose to spend your precious, valuable time with negativity, that's on you!

20 Topics created with the word "Taylor" in the title in the past week. That excludes the few that avoid "Taylor" but still pertain to her or her new album. Half of them are meaningless things created by people in order to farm reactions. Like a quarter of them are talking about how successful or unsuccessful the album is. Another quarter of them talk about if they prefer her or x artist or people's attitude towards her. In comparison, there's 25 topics using the word "Gaga" in the title created in the past week. It really shouldn't be surprising that these threads are getting constantly derailed, even without factoring in the "Trending" sections being 60% Taylor related partially due to the hate in the threads.

It's really funny though that to the Swifties defending this garbage is essentially asking others to be understanding or accommodating while actively seeking to alienate those tired of the trash-posting from the community. I want to say that the last attempt at a megathread was so unpopular because of the bloat it immediately got, which is really an acknowledgement from Swifties that they are indeed posting trash to the site, and are wanting to filter it out themselves by having the luxury of ignoring Taylor topics they don't care about while making anything non-Taylor related invisible to the rest of the GGD community. I would much rather lose 1 spot in the "Trending Now" and "Trending this Week" sections of the site forever rather than have to skim every title for it being Taylor related and losing content in the "New Threads" section regularly. I would never ever touch the megathread and agree at that point it should probably be a warning for those that don't join the echo chamber in the megathread, if the @Moderator would please just pull the trigger on it.

And herein lies the issue - people can only farm reactions if people give them.

It still comes down to the oldest internet forum principle around - DLDR.

I do think the mods need to be more proactive in condensing or even blocking threads, I do think the fact we've had seperate threads for each individual chart record broken by the Flop of a Showgirl is ridiculous. But equally, people do want to talk about these even if it is legitimate debates about the validity of her marketing strategies and it just looks juvenile when people try and hijack threads and complain the threads exist.

But it still ultimately comes down to the fact that people like you are continunally going into these threads to complain they exist and with the way forum sites work on the back end that keeps that thread front and center and lively. If you want to stop a fire, you cut off it's fuel supply. The constant need to voice how angry y'all are that another Taylor thread exists is literally fueling the very thing you hate.

At the end of the day - if y'all keep pushing for a Gaga only rule on discussions on here, which will end up happening if you bitch and moan everytime an artist you dislike releases music, you're going to kill this site. Because Gaga doesn't release music regularly, and is incredibly private these days. Y'all will have nothing to talk about.
The funniest part is - the main thing we can talk about Gaga atm is the tour and the surprise piano songs & encore song. And for the vast majority of the people giving it the "why aren't we talking about Gaga on GAGADaily" schtick aren't even in the threads talking about what Gaga is doing each night of the tour.
And all the Gaga threads we've had recently that were actual spaces for us all to discuss things like song ratings/album vs album debates etc - have died pretty rapidly because just don't really feature em.
