The humor is there, and the main characters are really interesting. I don't know if the director wanted it to be super important for the plot, but the whole puberty storyline was intriguing and the way the mother handled her two daughters was really refreshing. I don't think I saw a horror film where the mom was that nice and understanding and let their daughters do whatever they liked. I like when horror movies have these underlying themes that we can discuss once the movie is over. I saw that there was a 2nd and a 3rd part and I will definitely watch them soon. Thanks for the fun facts! I have no idea that Orphan Black was in the same universe. Might give it a watch when I am done with my horror movie marathon You're right it's actually so funny but a lot of people don't seem to get that. It was kinda ahead of it's time, being filmed in 1999, for having two strong and well written female leads and talking about puberty, menstruation etc. No trust me I've watched all the interviews and directors/writers DVD commentary back in the day the transforming into a literal monster and turning on your loved ones as a metaphor for puberty was the point. And yes I love Pamela. She's trying her best as a mom of two angsty daughters in the 90's but she was just a little in over her head. I ****ing loved at the end when she goes ride or die for them and says something like "it's one thing to lock me up but they can't take away my girls. Tomorrow I'll light a match and let the house fill up with gas. We'll start again, just us girls" Orphan Black isn't a horror but it is a really good TV show! I just lost track of where I was at and never finished it. I really should jump back in. Another fact is that the movie did so badly upon release due to a stroke of really bad luck. The Columbine school shootings happened right before release and no theatres wanted to pick up a slasher movie set in a high school. The theatres that did screen it had to remove the film very quickly due to protests. But it gained a huge cult following after the fact! Also... they've been in talks the past few years to make a modern day adaptation in the form of a TV show. Which I was really sceptical about given it's one of my favourite movies ever, but the original director and production company are attached so I'd give it a go! I'm not sure if it's still happening actually... I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

I can’t explain to you why I’m so obsessed with this film, there really is some witchcraft at play here. It’s such a total cinematic experience where Guadagnino went as far as he could go with this story. I love it when directors really take an idea to the nth degree. It’s also so complex and layered, I feel like I see something new every time I’m watching it.
UWontUseMyMind 711
Can we consider Mother! an horror movie? If so that’s my favorite one but I also really love the first Alien and the series in general (I also really liked the third one) and more recently The Substance

OMG yes part 2 was the best of them by far! the 4th was cool but not as great as the trilogy... I just really admire the way they made those movies feel like old-school horror movies

I literally have an occult symbol from Suspiria tattooed on my leg and watched it again for the 50th time last night with my current fling… (he’d better know what he’s getting himself into) Great choices and I enjoyed the Suspiria remake but the CGI at the end ruined the movie for me. The original stands firm. Edited 7 hours ago by Bling

A lot of people just "didn't get it." I thought it was amazing. Feels like a script A24 would've picked up if it was released in the 2020s. "634 blowjobs in 5 days. I'm really quite tired."
