Why release 4 different variants with 2 acoustic tracks each? Why not just release one variant with all the acoustic tracks there? At 8 bucks a pop that’s $32 for something that should only be, like $14, $16 max.

Why make fans buy one extra CD if you can make them buy four extra CDs?!

I don't know how to write in english

Not defending her, cause I actually hate this trend variants have instituated in the music industry. But technically these are the first real variants for this album. Everything else up to this point was the same exact album with just a different art cover, but the tracklist remained the same, so there was no incentive to buy more than one (even if the fans are psychos and have bought all versions, that’s them being literal psychos). So to me, technically this whole rollout has had less real variants than previous ones. There’s a lot of variations, but variants is usually a term that should only apply to versions that have some sort of difference from the standard tracklist and fans just throw that term around casually.

At this point I'm just glad and relieved that I'm not a stan. The second hand embarrassment seeing the desperation to just sell while the music itself is abysmal. Imagine buying 40 versions of an album that's getting mixed to negative reviews :icant:

To be fair, there was an article by Billboard during the TTPD era about how variants make up like 10 % or less of the weekly sales. Still her 10 % are more than triple that of other's complete first week sales but doesn't this just show that she has a huge appeal that just stream the album or buy a standard variant of the album?

For TLOAS I really liked the different covers but they could have just been printed in a booklet that you receive along the album or let it be a seperate picture book, like the programmes you can buy at concerts or musicals.

I bought two of all the variants (a vinyl and one of the acoustic CDs this morning), but if someone wants to buy all of them, why not? It's their money...

At least it's better than releasing single CDs or vinyls with just one song in my opinion.
